Abstract: A method for adjusting the temperature of a patient, comprising: circulating a primary fluid in a primary fluid circuit; circulating secondary fluid through a heat exchanger in 5 thermal communication with the primary fluid circuit and a secondary heat exchanger in thermal communication with a patient; maintaining a temperature of the primary fluid at a target temperature under a thermal load in the range of between 400 and 550 watts.
