Abstract:
A method for coating a substrate and a coating device used therein that can smoothly form an adhesive layer on the surface of a substrate without roughening, is provided which do not require a drying process and is free of various problems such as sick house syndrome stemming from use of organic solvents. In addition, a method of producing a laminated object using the coating method and the laminated object obtained thereby are provided. In the method for coating a substrate to form an adhesive layer on one surface of the substrate, while the substrate is being conveyed by applying a hot melt adhesive in a melted state via a rotating applicator roller, with the direction of rotation of the applicator roller and the direction of conveying the substrate being the same, adhesive is applied to the substrate while slipping the applicator roller by setting the circumferential speed of the applicator roller to be at least 20% slower or at least 20% faster than the predetermined speed at which the substrate is conveyed.
Abstract:
A coating system for material webs, specifically of paper or cardboard, includes two mutually parallel rolls directly coordinated with each other, the rolls having a mutually variable spacing such that the rolls can be positioned to create a press gap for coating the web, or so as not to create a press gap. When the rolls are not positioned to form a press gap, the web passes over both roll shells while circumventing the applicators which have already dosed the roll shells with a coating mixture. The web passes over both roll shells for purposes of transferring the coating mixture predosed by the applicators. Solely the web pull in conjunction with the wrap angle of the two roll shells serves the final dosing by scraping off an excess quantity from the roll shells.

Abstract:
A method of coating a substrate that enables forming an adhesive layer on a surface of substrate smoothly without fluffing, does not need drying operation so as to ensure high efficiency and is free from problems attributed to organic solvents, such as sick house,; and a coating unit for use in the method. Further, a process for producing a laminate wherein the coating method is used; and a laminate obtained by the process. In particular, a method of coating a substrate, comprising coating a surface of substrate while being conveyed with a hot melt adhesive in heated molten form by means of a coating roll being rotated to thereby form an adhesive layer, wherein the direction of rotation of the coating roll is identical with the direction of conveyance of the substrate and wherein the peripheral speed of the coating roll is set for one 20% or more lower than or 20% or more greater than the speed of conveyance of the substrate so that the substrate is coated with the adhesive while causing the coating roll to slip.
