    Abstract: Fast acting airpowered water displays which may be computer controlled to operate over a wide range of duration and timings and methods of operating the same are disclosed. The water displays are comprised of one or more nozzles (22). Each nozzle (22) is connected to a water reservoir (24) submerged in a fountain pool (20) and coupled adjacent the bottom of the reservoir (24) to the inlet for the nozzle (22). The water reservoir (24) is also coupled to a check valve (30) to allow water to refill the reservoir (24) but to prevent water from escaping therefrom. A solenoid valve (38) controllably connects the upper portion of the water reservoir (24) to a supply of air under pressure (42). The solenoid valve (38) is operative between a first condition coupling the supply of air under pressure to the upper portion of the water reservoir, and a second condition venting the upper portion of the reservoir to the atmosphere.
