Abstract:
Apparatus for coating interior surfaces of objects employs an electrostatic fluidized bed unit (10) in which the fluidization chamber (64, 66, 68) is relatively shallow, and is circumscribed by a marginal portion (30) that conforms closely to the dimensions and configuration of the cavity of the object. The apparatus employs, as a feature of its recovery and recirculation system, a fluidized bed for agitating and facilitating feeding of the particulate material, thus making the system especially well suited for depositing coatings of abrasive materials, such as vitreous frit.
Abstract:
A method for distributing granules may include transporting a hopper along a roof while releasing granules through a valve of the hopper, thereby depositing a line of granules on the roof. Another method for distributing granules may include adjusting a valve of a container mounted on a cart, depositing a predetermined width of the granules though the valve onto the roof while driving the cart along a roof, and covering a seam between adjacent sheets of roofing material with the granules. A device for depositing granules on a roof may include a hopper, and a valve, where granules stored in the hopper flow directly through the valve to the roof in response to gravity when the valve is at least partially opened, and where the flow of the granules is not assisted by an agitator, an auger, or air pressure.

Abstract:
An apparatus and method for coating surfaces of workpieces employs an electrostatic fluidized bed unit for producing a cloud of charged particles, for deposition upon the workpiece, and a second fluidized bed for agitating the particulate material and for facilitating feeding thereof to the electrostatic coating bed, the second bed being disposed beneath the first bed, and being in powder flow communication with it.
Abstract:
Electrostatic apparatus and method for coating interior surfaces of objects. The apparatus employs a fluidized bed unit in which the fluidization chamber is relatively shallow, and is circumscribed by a marginal portion that conforms closely to the dimensions and configurations of the cavity of the object. The apparatus employs a non-vacuumized powder recovery and recirculation system, and provides a peripheral slot in the marginal portion of the housing for entry of undeposited powder. Coating inside corners of objects is effectively achieved using the method of the invention, and heavy, uniform builds of the particulate material are produced efficiently and at high rates.
Abstract:
An improved machine is provided for the continuous manufacture of self-locking internally threaded articles. A movable support member for receiving the fasteners is provided with a plurality of rotatable platforms, one for each fastener, each platform having a pinion disposed at the underside thereof. A stationary rack is aligned to mesh with the pinions at a predetermined location along the path of movement of the support member whereby the platforms and fasteners located thereon are continuously rotated during application of the locking patch to the internal threads over a desired circumferential portion of the threads, during movement of the support member.
