Abstract:
Box of sheet material, such as cardboard or corrugated cardboard, including square or rectangular lateral faces, in pairs, connected by a folding line. The folding lines are mutually parallel and the lateral faces forming a right-angled parallelepiped (pa). This box includes other lateral faces forming a pyramid (py) adjoined by its base to the parallelepiped. It is obtained from a blank of sheet material including triangular or trapezoidal panels hinged to rectangular or square panels.
Abstract:
An apparatus for folding the top closures of tubular containers of square to rectangular cross section having a bottom into the form of a gabled roof. The top closure comprises first and second pairs of opposed quadrilateral panels, and each of the first panels has fold lines. The apparatus comprises first and second folding members provided at an intermediate portion of a path of transport of the container by a conveyor, between a filling device and a top closure sealing device along the path. The first folding member inwardly folds the first pair of panels between the second pair while the container is being transported by the conveyor, whereupon the second folding member operates to inwardly fold the second pair of panels over the first pair already folded by the first folding member. The top closure is foldable into the gabled form reliably and can therefore be subsequently sealed free of any trouble.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for forming a box having a box body comprising interconnected bottom, side and end walls, shoulder elements connected to the side walls and securing flaps connected to the shoulder elements.
Abstract:
A carton bottom end tucker-tacker assembly for folding over, closing and tacking the bottom ends of a pair of cartons mounted on a pair of mandrels on a packaging machine. The tucker-tacker apparatus includes a tucker means for engaging a pair of opposed triangular bottom end closure members on the bottom ends of a pair of cartons and breaking the bottom end closure members and folding them inwardly toward a closed position, after which the tucker apparatus recedes and a pair of swingably mounted tucker and tacker jaws then move under the partially closed bottom end members of the pair of cartons and complete the folding and tucking operations, and concluding with a tacking in place of the bottom end closure tuck-over panel to retain the bottom end closure members in a square condition for subsequent transferral to a carton bottom end pressure sealing operation. The tucker jaw and the tacker jaw are each water cooled, and they are adapted to be operated by the same power drive means as used to operate the tucker apparatus. In one embodiment the tucker apparatus comprises a vertically disposed plate with a pair of recesses having angled sides for simultaneously engaging the bottom ends of a pair of adjacently disposed cartons for a breaking and partial forming operation on the carbon bottom end closure members. In another embodiment, the last described tucking operation is carried out by two pairs of oscillatable tucker blades which are movable between operative and inoperative positions by the same power drive means that is used in the first embodiment.
Abstract:
Apparatus for bending sidewall-attached flaps of a box to positions where they lie interiorly of the box, substantially parallel and adjacent to their respective sidewalls. Opposed first and second flaps are contacted by first and second folder members which are moved arcuately in opposite directions from mutually adjacent retracted positions outside the box to extended positions in the box where they lie adjacent to the respective sidewalls.
Abstract:
An apparatus for forming a tray from a blank of sheet material is provided. The apparatus includes a platen configured to move along a path between a first position and a second position to drive the blank downstream from the first position and a first folding arm configured to fold an outside corner support member of the blank to form the blank into a partially formed tray including at least a portion of the outside corner support member being substantially parallel to the bottom panel. The apparatus further includes a fixed plate and a movable plate spaced from and movable with respect to the fixed plate. The fixed plate and the movable plate define a passage therebetween. The fixed plate guides the outside corner support member through the passage to a position adjacent a side panel and/or an end panel.
Abstract:
A folding and tucker-tacker station operates upon a flat bottom end closure of a packaging sleeve, which closure comprises first and second panels opposite each other, third and fourth panels opposite each other and between the first and second panels, and a minor panel protruding from the outermost edge of the third panel. The station comprises a mounting supporting first, second and third jaws oscillatable transversely of the sleeve axis for folding inwards the first, second and third panels, and a fourth jaw displaceable along, but not transversely of, the axis for folding inwards the fourth panel. The third jaw has a recess for receiving the minor panel. The fourth jaw is disposed after the third jaw along the path of a mandrel transporting the sleeve
