Abstract: Disclosed is a nighttime cooperative positioning method based on an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) group, falling within the technical field of aircraft navigation and positioning. According to the present disclosure, the cooperative visual positioning and the collision warning for UAVs are realized by means of light colors of the UAVs, respective two-dimensional turntable cameras and a communication topology network, without adding additional equipment and without relying on an external signal source, avoiding external interference. Compared with the positioning method in a conventional manner, in the present disclosure, the system is effectively simplified, and the cooperative positioning among the interiors of a UAV cluster can be realized relatively simply and at a low cost to maintain the formation of the UAV group.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and a device for lifting a load, wherein at least one aerial drone carries at least a portion of the load. In order to lift a load, it is proposed to yoke together a plurality of aerial drones or at least one aerial drone and a lifting hook of a crane, and provide a common control system for the plurality of aerial drones or the at least one aerial drone and the lifting hook of the crane, in order not to have to control a plurality of aerial drones at the same time, or also an aerial drone in addition to the crane hook, using separate control means, in a “multi-handed” manner. In addition to the at least one aerial drone which carries at least a portion of the load, it is proposed, according to the invention, that the load should be connected to a further aerial drone and/or a lifting hook of a crane, and also carried and/or directed by the further aerial drone or the crane lifting hook in part, wherein the two aerial drones are controlled together, and/or the at least one aerial drone is controlled together with the crane, in a mutually coordinated manner, by means of a common controller for controlling flight and/or crane movements.

Abstract: A method for protection of inflight aircraft during approaching-to-landing and takeoff/climbout phases of flight against handheld laser attacks includes two different drone types: a skeining drone and a swarming drone. One or more skeining drones are deployed close to the aircraft and/or one or more swarming drones are deployed further from the aircraft and closer to the beam source. Prior to the aircraft's traversal of a determinable approach point, a plurality of swarming drones are pre-deployed in loitering mode or else launched, and are subsequently directed toward the reckoned source of a trained beam while skeining drones are pre-deployed in a patrol mode or else launched, and fly closer to the aircraft. The skein classically shields the cockpit by flying a controlled interference pattern roughly parallel to the aircraft flightpath while the swarm saturates one or more determined and dynamically redetermined regions athwart the beam source location.

Abstract: A detector used for tomography imaging is mobile, allowing the detector to move about an object (e.g., patient to be imaged). A swarm of such detectors, such as a swarm of drones with detectors, may be used for tomography imaging. The trajectory or trajectories of the mobile detectors may account for the pose and/or movement of the object being imaged. The trajectory or trajectories may be based, in part, on the sampling for desired tomography. An image of an internal region of the object is reconstructed from detected signals of the mobile detectors using tomography.

Abstract: A system for determining optimal paths without collision through a travel volume for a swarm of vehicles is disclosed. The system determines a travel path for the swarm leader vehicle using a minimal cost path derived from various measures of environmental cost for avoiding objects in traveling from leader location to target location. The system also determines, for each empty neighbor location of each follower vehicle, relational costs for follower vehicle travel relative to leader vehicle travel. The various measures of relational cost seek to maintain a prescribed positional relationship between each follower vehicle and the leader vehicle given the leader vehicle travel path. Based on various measures of environmental and relational cost, the system determines the best travel path for the each follower vehicle relative to the leader vehicle.

Abstract: A system for controlling a vehicle, including one or more communication modules and one or more processors operably coupled to the communication modules. The one or more processors are configured to individually or collectively: receive a geo-fence identifier associated with geo-fence information, where the geo-fence identifier uniquely identifies the geo-fence from other geo-fences; obtain one or more activity regulations for the vehicle based on the geo-fence identifier; and control operation of the vehicle according to the one or more activity regulations.
