Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are provided for constructing refractory structures, e.g., glass furnace regenerator structures and/or glass furnace structures formed of refractory components, the refractory structure being housed within a building having a roof support elements. Cross-support beams are provided to latitudinally span the refractory structure and are suspended from roof support elements associated with the building housing the refractory structure by a suspension support system attached to the cross-support beams. An overhead crane assembly may thus be supported by the cross-support beams.

A combustion tube mounting system releasably mounts a combustion tube to an aperture in the floor of a furnace housing. The combustion tube has a base assembly with a cam and can be manually or automatically unlocked by cam pins in the floor for selectively engaging the cam for lowering the combustion tube from the floor of the furnace. When a new combustion tube is placed on the lower seal assembly and raised, it automatically aligns and engages the upper furnace seal and engages cams on the floor of the furnace housing which lock the combustion tube in place as it is introduced into the furnace.
Abstract:
Provided are a method and an arrangement for adjusting characteristics of a furnace process in a furnace space limited by a furnace shell of a metallurgical furnace. The arrangement comprises an injection unit having a frame mounted by means of a mounting means on the metallurgical furnace outside the furnace space of the furnace shell. Also provided is an injection unit for use in the method and in the arrangement.

Bouclier thermique constitué essentiellement d'un coussin (11) formé par deux enveloppes en matières composites capables de résister à des températures de l'ordre de 800 à 900°C et pouvant être gonflé à l'aide d'une turbine. Le coussin est pourvu d'une manchette d'admission (13) reliée à un turbine et au moins une manchette d'évacuation (15) de manière à maintenir une circulation d'air renouvelable dans le coussin. Le coussin repose sur un élément de gîtage (3, 4, 5) adéquat. Le dispositif est destiné à constituer un bouclier thermique prévu pour être monté dans le puits d'un cowper ou autres en vue de permettre des opérations de réfection ou de réparation de celui-ci sans refroidir la coupole du cowper.
