Abstract:
Abstract:
A carton (10) for packaging a plurality of articles (56) having rectangular or square bases and sides such as aseptic packages and the carton blank therefor. In one embodiment the carton includes a base (14), side panels (16, 18), inner and outer top panels (20, 22) with handle straps (40, 42) and partial end panels (24, 26) held in an upright position by tuck flaps (60, 62, 64, 66, 78, 80, 82, 84). In other embodiment the carton includes a base (98), side panels flaps (100, 102), inner and outer top panels (104, 106), partial end panels (108, 110) and tear strips (120, 122) on the side panels to convert the carton to a display.
Abstract:
To increase the compression strength of a corrugated cardboard box (10), the horizontal edges (38-52) of the box are perforated and the vertical edges (56-62) are chemically treated. Surprisingly, the combination of mechanical and chemical treatments increases the compression strength more than that obtained by adding the percentage strength increases attributable to the individual treatments.
Abstract:
A gable top carton and its corresponding carton blank are disclosed. The carton includes curved side creases that are defined by curved score lines (90, 95, 240, 245) that divide one or more side panels (35, 45) from a top gabled structure and/or a bottom structure.
Abstract:
A sealed refill container (10) for housing granular products is adapted to be inserted into an outer package (1). The container is easily collapsible when empty. It comprises opposing top and bottom walls (11, 12), opposing side walls (13, 14) and opposing front and back walls (15, 16). Each side wall has first, second and third lines of weakness (20-25). The first and second lines of weakness (20, 21, 23, 24) begin adjacent the lower front and rear corners and extend diagonally upward. The first and second lines meet in apexes (26, 27) between the top and bottom walls. The third lines of weakness (22, 25) begin adjacent the apexes and extend to points adjacent the top wall. The container further includes a horizontal line of weakness which connects the apexes by extending along a portion of each side wall and one of the front and the back walls. The container also includes a circumferential tear strip (40) adjacent the top wall.
Abstract:
A container comprises opposed front and rear walls (13, 14) foldably connected to a pair of opposed side walls (16, 18), beveled shoulder walls (118, 120), and a hanger support panel (76). Each shoulder wall is disposed at an obtuse angle with respect to its adjacent side wall. The distance between the upper edges of the shoulder walls is less than the distance between the lower edges of the shoulder walls. The hanger support panel is foldably joined to the top edge of the rear wall and is disposed at a generally right angle with respect to the front and rear walls. The support panel extends between the upper edges of the shoulder walls and is supported by contact between its inner surface and the upper edges of the shoulder walls. The support panel has a slot (94) so that a hanger-supported article can hang from the support panel.
Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to prevent or minimize the damage to a carton caused by sudden impact. This damage results most often from the cartons being dropped from some height. The type of carton damage is usually corner fracture. The tensile forces applied to the corner as the carton hits causes a tear to form at the base of the vertical score line (12) where the carton folds to make the bottom corner. A single score line (21) is formed in and at the side of the side panel (11) of a carton. Each score line extends outwardly from each side of the side vertical score lines which define the side panels of the carton. The purpose of these score lines is to induce a fold to form preferentially at the intersection of the score line and the vertical score line and away from the carton bottom corner when the carton is dropped or suddenly shocked. Each of the score lines should be long enough and placed a distance from the bottom wall to induce the fold line to form preferentially away from the bottom corner.
Abstract:
A box for instance for storing powder and comprising six side walls. At least three of said side walls are extended to form the top and/or the bottom cover with at least one panel (10) connected with the three side walls. This panel comprises a central main flap (11) and two pairs of side flaps connected thereto through folding rims. These side flaps comprise an oblique triangular rigid portion (12) extending from the main flap (11) and abutting the side walls and furthermore forming an inner obtuse angle therewith, whereas smaller triangular flap (s) (14) in the closed position abut the side walls in question and - in case of the bottom cover - preferably all are connected to these side walls through folding lines, the main flap being connected to both adjacent side walls. A cut and scored blank is also provided for producing the box. In this manner a light and simple box is obtained.
Abstract:
A method and means is provided for securing the bottom closure of a polygonal container having a plurality of side panels (14) and a strong weight supporting bottom formed by a plurality of generally triangular bottom panels (32) and a plurality of interconnecting webs (34) between the panels. The method comprises inserting a fin head assembly (78) within the container, the fin head assembly having a plurality of vertically disposed fin plates (90) which are registered in alignment with the junctures between the side edges of the bottom panels. The fin plates are then inserted into the junctures between the side edges of the bottom panels so that each fin plate is embraced between the double thickness of the web panels which are between the side edges of the bottom panels. The fin plates hold the bottom panels and webs in place so that a clip (40) may be placed over the circular array of ribs formed by the double thickness web panels, thereby holding the web panels and the bottom panels in a predetermined configuration.
Abstract:
A package for an audio cassette tape (CT) and a booklet (B) of lyrics. The container has a flip-top (12) and, in the preferred embodiment, two separate compartments for the tape and the booklet. The carton is preferably made from a single sheet of card stock. Spacing legs (112, 114) projecting from the dividing panel (54) ensure that the front panel is separated from the booklet backing or dividing panel and provides a support or compartment for the booklet.
