    Abstract: The present invention relates to a connector for substantially aseptic connection, said connector comprising a connector member (1) having a connection end (13) and a coupling end (12), wherein the coupling end (12) comprises a coupling element (15) for engaging a similar coupling element (15') on a similar connector (100') to form a first seal (B), and a cover (2) arranged to enclose the coupling end (12) for providing an aseptic seal that separates the coupling end (12) from a surrounding, the cover (2) comprising at least two cover portions (21A, 22A), each cover portion (21A, 22A) being configured to be successively- positioned on or adjacent the coupling end (12) of the connector member (1), wherein each cover portion (21A, 22A) comprises a seal member (21, 22) for engaging a similar seal member on a similar connector thereby to form a second seal (A) when so positioned on or adjacent the coupling end (12) of the connector member (1). The invention also relates to a method for connecting and disconnecting two such connectors.

    Abstract: An aseptic coupling system includes a first and second connectors having inboard mating portions, outboard terminal connections, first and second valve seals, and first and second valve elements. When the first and second connectors are joined in a coupled condition, the first and second valve elements are each moved from a shutoff position in sealing engagement with the first and second valve seals to a flow position separated from the first and second valve seals to permit flow therebetween, thereby defining a flow path between the outboard terminal connections. In the coupled condition, non-wetted surfaces of the first valve seal are sealed off from the flow path by sealing engagement with a flow passage defining annular wall of the second connector, and non-wetted surfaces of the second valve seal are sealed off from the flow path by sealing engagement with a flow passage defining annular wall of the first connector.

    Abstract: Apparatus and methods for establishing sterile or disinfected/ decontaminated connections or conduits between separate fluid path sub-assemblies. Each section of the fluid path to be connected include one or multiple heatable or heating surfaces, and a sterile volume or chamber defined by at least one of the heatable or heating surfaces. Prior to establishing a sterile access or connection between separate sections of a fluid path, the heatable or heating surfaces are sterilized or disinfected/ decontaminated by means of heat. Such means may include ohmic resistive heating, inductive heating, and/or self-heating through an exothermic reaction. All surfaces establishing the connection or conduit are therefore sterile or disinfected/ decontaminated, and a sterile connection or conduit is established.
