Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polyester composition whereby the improvement in heat resistance of a polyester composition and the improvement in productivity accompanying to catalyst recovery can be achieved by removing a metal from the composition. SOLUTION: In a polyester production process containing an esterification step using an esterification catalyst and a polycondensation step using a polycondensation catalyst, a polyester composition is produced by separating and recovering the esterification catalyst and/or the polycondensation catalyst by adding a ligand, provided the ligand contains at least one kind of donor atom which can be coordinated with a metal or a metal ion and is selected from the group consisting of nitrogen, sulfur, and oxygen.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester film almost free from coarse projection and defects, and excellent in surface properties, oligomer deposition-inhibiting properties and productivity. SOLUTION: The polyester composition comprises a 10-30C higher fatty acid component, a 10-30C higher aliphatic alcohol component, or an ester compound thereof in an amount of 0.1-10 wt.% in total and gives measurements of molecular weight polydispersity by the GPC simultaneously satisfying following equations (1) and (2); Mw/Mn>4.4 (1), Mz/Mw>2.0 (2), wherein Mw is a weight-average mol.wt.; Mn is a number-average mol.wt.; and Mz is a z- average mol.wt. The polyester composition gives a polyester film excellent in oligomer deposition-inhibiting properties and is very suitably employed for film applications, as a film for a magnetic tape in particular.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an oligomer precipitated on surface and, at the same time, improve the resistance against the wear of an edge by a method wherein the lubricant component content w in at least one layer of the three layers except the outer layer is set to be in a specified number range in wt.% and the thicknesses d of the respective outer layers are set to be above a specified numerical value and, at the same time, d/w is set to be above a specified numerical value. SOLUTION: The lubricant component content in at least one layer of a film laminatingly consisting of three or more layers except its outer layer is set to be 0.1-2.0 wt.%. If the content of a lubricant component in an inner layer is below 0.1 wt.%, no enough resistance against the wear of an edge can be obtained and if its content exceeds 2.0 wt.%, a bleed-out occurs not only at the edges but also at the surface of the film. If the thickness of respective outer layer is not set to be 0.03 μm or more and no relationship d/w >=0.2 is satisfied between the thickness d of the outer layer and the content w of the lubricant component in at least one layer among the inner layer, an effect for preventing the lubricant component in the inner layers from bleeding-out by the outer layer becomes insufficient.

SOLUTION: The metal plate adhering laminate polyester film is obtained by disposing a polyester layer A and a polyester layer B made of polyester composition containing an imide plasticizer. A melting point of the polyester for constituting the layer A is 150 to 250 deg.C from points of heat resistance and impact resistance, and the polyester for constituting the layer B is 20wt.% or less of the content of the plasticizer from points of the heat resistance and impact resistance, and its melting point is 270 deg.C or lower. And, a ratio Ta/Tb of the thickness Ta of the layer A to that Tb of the layer B is 0.01 to 10 from points of adhesive properties of the metal plate and heat resistance and impact resistance. And, the layer B is adhered to the plate, and the layer A is disposed at the side in contact with the content.

The film has a specific gravity of 0.8-1.3g/cm3 and a hiding rate of >=1.0. A polyester laminate film is prepared by having this film as a layer.
