Abstract: An ultrasound transducer unit includes: a plurality of units each of which includes a piezoelectric element group, a wiring substrate that includes a plurality of wiring lines that are electrically connected to piezoelectric elements included in the piezoelectric element group, and a cable group that is electrically connected to the wiring lines included in the wiring substrate, that extends in a direction intersecting a longitudinal direction of each of the piezoelectric elements included in the piezoelectric element group, and that is formed into a helical shape; an outer surface support that supports, by using an outer surface of the outer surface support, the piezoelectric element group included in each of the plurality of units; and an inner surface support that supports an inner surface of the outer surface support. Cable groups included in the plurality of units constitute a multiple helical structure.

Abstract: A control console for a powered surgical tool. The console includes a transformer that supplies the drive signal to the surgical tool. A linear amplifier with active resistors selectively ties the ends of the transformer primary winding between ground and the open circuit state. Feedback voltages from the transformer windings regulate the resistances of the active resistors.

Abstract: An ultrasound transducer includes a transducer body configured to generate ultrasound vibration to vibrate a treatment portion that treats a living tissue. The transducer body includes a plurality of piezoelectric elements configured to alternately repeat expansion and contraction according to a supplied drive signal. The plurality of piezoelectric elements are integrally fastened in a state where the plurality of piezoelectric elements are stacked along a direction of expansion and contraction. The plurality of piezoelectric elements include a first piezoelectric element configured to expand at a first timing and contract at a second timing, and a second piezoelectric element whose expansion and contraction timings are different from expansion and contraction timings of the first piezoelectric element. The second piezoelectric element is arranged so that a polarization direction of the second piezoelectric element is a same as a polarization direction of an adjacent piezoelectric element.

Abstract: An embodiment herein provides an apparatus for generating and transmitting ultrasonic waves into a non-planar target for one or more applications. The apparatus includes a control system that generates one or more electrical signals, and a transducer assembly including one or more transducers that receive and convert the one or more electrical signals into the ultrasonic waves. The generated ultrasonic waves are efficiently transmitted into the non-planar target in one or more directions by reducing surface mismatch, where the ultrasonic waves cause at least one of an acoustic streaming, a cavitation, a microstreaming, standing waves, a turbulence in a flow of fluids, a vibration of fluid molecules, a vibration of solids, reflection, refraction, or absorption, thereby improving efficiency of the one or more applications comprising any of, but not limited to, cleaning, imaging, mixing, measuring, sensing, or therapy.

Method includes generating a first and a second signal to generate respective acoustic ensonification drive patterns with phase, frequency, and amplitude and generating at least one relative phase, frequency or amplitude difference to generate a third incoherent acoustic ensonification pattern to activate a sonosensitizer. Calibration and complementary therapy procedures to improve cell susceptibility of cells to sonodynamic therapy are disclosed.

Abstract: An imaging system includes: a transceiver cell for generating a pressure wave and converting an external pressure wave into an electrical signal; and a control unit for controlling an operation of the transceiver cell. The transceiver cell includes: a substrate; at least one membrane suspending from the substrate; and a plurality of transducer elements mounted on the at least one membrane. Each of the plurality of transducer elements has a bottom electrode, a piezoelectric layer on bottom electrode, and at least one top electrode on the piezoelectric layer. Each of the plurality of transducer element generates a bending moment in response to applying an electrical potential across the bottom electrode and the at least one top electrode and develops an electrical charge in response to a bending moment due to the external pressure wave.

The second voltage output circuit includes a second switching unit that performs switching between supplying the second high voltage to the second terminal in ultrasonic transmission; and electrically separating the second voltage output circuit from the second terminal in ultrasonic reception.
