Abstract: A vehicular camera includes a lens barrel accommodating a lens and having at least two radial protrusions protruding radially outward at or near an inner end of the lens barrel. A lens holder includes a passageway for receiving the inner end of the lens barrel and has at least two slots extending longitudinally from a board end of the lens holder. The lens barrel is received in the lens holder and the board end of the lens holder is attached at an imager printed circuit board with the imager facing the lens. The radial protrusions are movable within the slots while the lens barrel is adjusted relative to the imager to align the lens at the imager. After the lens is aligned relative to the imager, the radial protrusions within the slots are welded to the lens holder to secure the lens barrel relative to the imager printed circuit board.

Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes a rearward-viewing camera disposed at a vehicle and viewing at least rearward of the vehicle. The rearward-viewing camera connects with a control via a cable. The cable carries control data from the control to the rearward-viewing camera and carries image data captured by the rearward-viewing camera from the rearward-viewing camera to the control. The control generates an output provided to a video display device of the vehicle. The video display device includes a video display screen viewable by a driver of the vehicle. During a reversing maneuver of the vehicle, the video display screen displays video images of an area rearward the vehicle derived from image data captured by the rearward-viewing camera and carried to the control by the cable. Image data captured by the rearward-viewing camera is processed at an image processor to detect an object present rearward of the vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicular control system includes an electronic control unit (ECU) that includes (i) a next stack activation size hardware register and (ii) a hardware memory initializer configured to initialize memory. The ECU determines a maximum stack size of a vehicle control function called by a root function. The vehicle control function controls a system of the equipped vehicle. The next stack activation size hardware register stores a value equivalent to the determined maximum stack size of the first function. The ECU, prior to executing the vehicle function and while executing the root function, triggers execution of the hardware memory initializer. The hardware memory initializer initializes memory in parallel with execution of the root function based on the next stack activation size hardware register. The ECU executes the vehicle control function responsive to receiving an indication of completion from the hardware memory initializer indicating the memory initialization is complete.

Abstract: A vehicular rear backup system includes a rear backup digital camera disposed at a vehicle and a display device having a video display screen disposed in an interior cabin of the vehicle and viewable by the driver of the vehicle. Rear backup video images that are derived from image data captured by the rear backup digital camera are displayed on the video display screen no later than two seconds after the driver of the vehicle first changes propulsion of the vehicle during a new ignition cycle to reverse mode to commence a first backup event. Until the first backup event is completed, the video display screen displays rear backup video images. During a backup event of the vehicle, image data captured by the rear backup digital camera is provided to and is processed by an image processor of the system to detect presence of an object rearward of the vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes at least one color camera disposed at a vehicle and having an image sensor operable to capture image data. A first system on chip (SoC) includes an image signal processor that receives captured image data and converts the received image data to converted data that is in a format suitable for machine vision processing. A second system on chip (SoC) receives captured image data and communicates display data to a display disposed in the vehicle, with the display data being in a format suitable for display of video images at the display. At startup of the vehicle, video images derived from the display data are displayed by the display within a time period following startup of the vehicle and machine vision data processing of converted data does not commence until after the display time period has elapsed following startup of the vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicular driver monitoring system includes a camera disposed within and viewing within an interior cabin of a vehicle. The camera includes a lens and an image sensor. The camera is operable to capture image data. Electronic circuitry of an electronic control unit (ECU) includes an image processor for processing image data captured by the camera. With a driver of the vehicle sitting in a driver seat of the vehicle, light is reflected off a portion of the driver to impinge at the lens of the camera. The vehicular driver monitoring system, via processing at the ECU of image data captured by the camera, determines a deficiency in captured image data arising from light impinging at the lens. The determined deficiency in captured image data arises from an occlusion at the lens of the camera.

Abstract: A vehicular camera calibration system includes a camera disposed at a vehicle, and an electronic control unit (ECU). The camera calibration system uses structure-from-motion during processing at the ECU of multiple frames of image data captured with the vehicle driven in a normal manner with turns involved. The camera calibration system uses a kinematic model of motion of the vehicle that is derived at least in part from vehicle data provided to the ECU. The camera calibration system, responsive to processing of multiple frames of captured image data, and based at least in part on (i) an intrinsic parameter of the camera and (ii) the kinematic model of motion of the vehicle, determines misalignment of the camera without use of a fiducial marker in a field of view of the camera and without use of reference points on the vehicle.
