A method for manufacturing a lamp for vehicles is disclosed in which a housing, a light conductor, and a clear lens are produced as one unit out of plastic in a 3-component injection procedure. The refractive index of the plastic of the clear lens is selected to be different from the refractive index of the plastic of the light conductor. The boundary between clear lens and the light conductor adjacent to it is formed with a structure. Because of the difference of the two refractive indexes and the structure at the given light admission on at least one light incoupling area at one end of the light conductor, light outcoupling areas are defined along the extent of the light conductor and out of the lamp. The invention furthermore relates to a side-view mirror arrangement of a vehicle having a lamp manufactured in this manner, preferably in the form of a blinker.

A pivot mechanism for a vehicle external rear view mirror assembly is disclosed. The mechanism includes: a base frame portion and a case frame portion mounted to the base frame portion for rotation about a pivot axis. A detent is operable between the base frame portion and the case frame portion. A spring mechanism clamps the case frame portion to the base frame portion and includes a compression spring disposed around the axis and a spring tie. The spring has first and second tie ends spaced apart from each other and connected by a tie shaft. The tie shaft passes through the spring. The spring tie shaft includes a spring tie reaction feature, whereby in a deployed position, a torque applied to the case frame portion about an axis orthogonal to the axis by an external force is resisted by the spring tie reaction feature.

A sealing apparatus for a rear-view device, such as an interior or exterior mirror or camera, of a motor vehicle, which sealing apparatus can be arranged between a base part and a head part, which head part can be moved, in particular rotated, in relation to the base part from a home position to at least one fold-down position, comprising at least one sealing element, which can be or is fastened to the base part or to the head part and which can be or is arranged in a sealing arrangement, in which sealing arrangement the sealing element closes a gap between the base part and the head part while lying against the base part and against the head part. The sealing apparatus is distinguished by at least one spacing element, by means of which the sealing element can be transferred from the sealing arrangement to a release arrangement at least in phases, at least during the motion of the head part from the home position to the fold-down position, in which release arrangement the sealing element is arranged without contact with respect to the head part and/or the base part.

A display arrangement for a motor vehicle can be disposed in a rear view device such as an interior- or exterior rear view mirror. The display arrangement may include at least one light source and at least one optical unit. The at least one optical unit may include at least one light-conducting body having at least one coupling-in section through which light emitted by at least one light source can be coupled into the light-conducting body and having at least one coupling-out section through which light can be coupled out of the light-conducting body. The at least one optical unit also comprises at least one optical means which at least in some sections is or can be secured to the light conducting body such that it is overlaid on the surface of the at least one coupling-out section of said light-conducting body. The optical means comprises at least one optical element by means of which a beam path of at least the light passing through the optical element can be deflected and/or split into light bundles, in particular scattered. The display arrangement is characterized in that the optical means includes a plurality of optical elements which, when they are at the same distance from the coupling-in section of the light-conducting body, correspond in their refraction- and/or reflection behavior and, in the opposite case, differ. Further provided are a rear view device comprising such a display arrangement, and a motor vehicle comprising such a rear view device.

A light module for a light assembly of an exterior rear view device comprises a light source unit with at least one wire for an electric connection with a printed circuit board of the rear view device, in particular of the light assembly. The light module further comprises a housing unit supporting the light source unit and being provided with connecting and/or holding means for the attachment to at least one part, in particular a housing part, of the rear view device. The light module also includes sealing means for water and dustproof of the connection between the light module and the at least one part. A light assembly includes at least one of such a light module, and an exterior rear view device includes such a light assembly.

An adjustment unit for a rear view device for a vehicle includes a pivot and a carrier. The carrier is tiltably mounted to the pivot. The adjustment unit includes at least one first bending actuator, which has its largest dimension in a first direction and which is bendably adjustable in an angular or crosswise direction relative to the first direction. The first bending actuator has a first end fixed to a first fastening means and a second end fixed to the carrier. At least one second bending actuator has its largest dimension in a second direction oriented angularly or crosswise relative to the first direction and is bendable angular or crosswise relative thereto. The second bending actuator has a first end fixed to the first fastening means or a further fastening means and a second end fixed to the carrier. The adjustment unit is characterized in that the first direction of the first bending actuator and/or the second direction of the second bending actuator run through the center of the pivot.

A system for visibility enhancement for a motor vehicle assistant system for warning the driver of hazardous situations due to at least one object being located within a critical range defined relative to the motor vehicle includes at least a first sensor means comprising a camera installed in a rear view equipment of the motor vehicle adapted to record at least one image, and an image processing means adapted to receive a first input signal from the first sensor means containing the at least one image and a second input signal containing at least one position profile of the at least one object located within the critical range, and manipulate the at least one image to generate a contrast manipulated image. A corresponding method of visibility enhancement is also described.
