The RF group can include at least two —CF3 groups, the Rτ group can be a group having at least two carbons, n can be at least 1, and the Q group can include one or more atoms of the periodic table of elements. RF-intermediates (RF(RT)nQg); Surfactants (RF(RT)nQs); Foam stabilizers (RF(RT)IIQFS); Metal complexes (RF(RT)IIQMC); Phosphate ester (RF(RT)HQPE); Polymers (RF(RT)IIQMU); Monomers (RF(RT)IIQM); Urethanes (RF(Rτ)nQu); and/or Glycols (RF(RT)IIQH) and methods for making the same are provided.

The present invention relates to a cornice/skirting mounting system and, in particular, to a 2-part system involving an anchor member (26) and an outer fascia member (28) which is removably attachable to the anchor member (26). The cornice/skirting mounting system of the present invention thus provides a complete system for fitting out a home with wall-wall, wall-ceiling, and wall-floor lining, with benefits prior to installation, and post-installation.

RF-compositions such as RF-intermediates, RF-surfactants, RF-monomers, RF-monomer units, RF-metal complexes, RF-phosphate esters, RF-glycols, RF-urethanes, and/or RF-foam stabilizers. The RF portion can include at least two —CF3 groups, at least three —CF3 groups, and/or at least two —CF3 groups and at least two —CH2— groups. Detergents, emulsifiers, paints, adhesives, inks, wetting agents, foamers, and defoamers including the RF-surfactant composition are provided. Acrylics, resins, and polymers are provided that include a RF-monomer unit. Compositions are provided that include a substrate having a RF-composition thereover. Aqueous Film Forming Foam (“AFFF”) formulations are provided that can include RF-surfactants and/or RF-foam stabilizers are provided.

The present invention is directed to a method that determines the necessary and sufficient tests to relate a variety of apparently non-related tests to desired final test results. The present invention also provides a method to determine those tests which, having been shown capable to be used in a high-throughput environment, are able to predict end-use qualification test results for lubricants, greases or industrial fluids. As a corollary, the present invention provides a method to select lubricant formulations and components based on apparently non-related, but predictive tests. In an applied example, the present invention is directed to a device and method that produces and evaluates formulated lubricants, functional fluids, and greases by determining previously unknown relationships between Intermediate Tests and End-use Tests.

An inflatable bumper and method of using the bumper in an animal transportation carrier to protect against the hazards of lateral dynamic forces incident to transit, particularly directional changes, vehicle swerves, sudden stops, or accidents. The invention provides this protection while minimizing stress and discomfort of the animal. The bumper is composed of a mounting plate (40), a skirt segment (10) providing side walls; a bumper face covering (30); inflatable bags (50); an inflation tube (60); and a valve (70) to inflate and deflate the inflatable bags. In the method of the invention, the bumper is installed on one or two carrier walls, inflated after the animal is loaded on the transport and deflated immediately prior to the unloading the animal.

Methods and materials are provided for the production and purification of halogenated compounds and intermediates in the production of 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane. In a preferred embodiment, the process steps include: (1) reacting carbon tetrachloride with vinyl chloride to produce 1,1,1,3,3-pentachloropropane; (2) dehydrochlorinating the 1,1,1,3,3-pentachloropropane with a Lewis acid catalyst to produce 1,1,3,3-tetrachloropropene; (3) fluorinating the 1,1,3,3-tetrachloropropene to produce 1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene; (4) fluorinating the 1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene to produce a product mixture containing 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane; and (5) separating 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane from by-products.

The present invention features a multi-bladed cutter and a cradle adapted to grip a tissue sample 10 during cutting. The cutter has a series 4 of juxtaposed blades 5 and the cradle has a series of slits 13 adapted to receive the blades during cutting. The cradle may have opposing curved walls 8,9 which may be brought together to clasp the sample. The apparatus is suitable for cutting tissue such as prostate tissue, which is difficult to section. The apparatus is particularly suited to cutting tissue where chemical fixing is undesirable because nucleic acids are to be sampled from the tissue.

The invention relates to a high-pressure discharge lamp of the ceramic metal halide type of the Philips MasterColor® series having power ranges of about 150 W to about 1000 W. Such lamps are provided with a discharge vessel which encloses a discharge space. The discharge vessel has a ceramic wall and is closed by a ceramic plug. An electrode which is located inside the discharge space is connected to an electric conductor by way of a leadthrough element.
