Abstract: A strengthened antimicrobial glass including greater from about 50.0 mol. % to about 65.0 mol. % SiO2, about 14.0 mol. % to about 22.0 mol. % Al2O3, about 14.0 mol. % to about 22.0 mol. % R2O, wherein R is an alkali metal, and about 4.0 mol. % to 10.0 mol. % P2O5. The glass may have a compressive stress layer having a thickness of greater than or equal to about 20 μm less than or equal to about 60 μm and having a compressive stress of greater than or equal to about 700 MPa. The glass may have an antimicrobial activity greater than or equal to about 1.0 log kill at about 23° C. and about 40.0% relative humidity. A method for making the glass may include obtaining a glass article, strengthening the glass article by contact with a first ion-exchange liquid, and contacting the glass article with second ion-exchange liquid comprising an antimicrobial agent.

Abstract: An alkali aluminosilicate glass that can be chemically strengthened and formed into a three dimensional shape. The glass has a softening point of less than about 825° C. and a high temperature coefficient of thermal expansion of less than about 30 parts per million (ppm)/° C. The glass may be ion exchanged after the three dimensional shape is formed. When ion exchanged, the glass has a surface layer that is under a compressive stress of at least about 700 MPa.

Abstract: An article comprising an ion-exchanged glass material that prevents sharp contact flaws from entering a central region of the material that is under central tension and thus causing failure of the material. The glass material may be a glass or glass ceramic having a surface layer under compression. In some embodiments, the depth of the compressive layer is greater than about 75 μm. The greater depth of layer prevents flaws from penetrating the compressive layer to the region under tension.

The glass composition has the following relationships: Al2O3+Li2O is greater than 22.5 mol %, R2O+RO is greater than or equal to 18.0 mol %, R2O/Al2O3 is greater than or equal to 1.06, SiO2+Al2O3+B2O3+P2O5 is greater than or equal to 78.0 mol %, and (SiO2+Al2O3+B2O3+P2O5)/Li2O is greater than or equal to 8.0. The glass composition may be used in a glass article or a consumer electronic product.

Abstract: Provided herein is a glass composition comprising: about 72 mol % to about 77 mol % SiO2; about 8 mol % to about 12 mol % Al2O3; about 10 mol % to about 14 mol % of one or more alkali oxide R2O, wherein R2O is Li2O, Na2O, K2O, Rb2O, or Cs2O; one or more divalent oxide RO, wherein RO is MgO, CaO, SrO, BaO, or ZnO; and P2O5, wherein the ratio of mol % RO/(mol % R2O+mol % RO) is at least about 0.2. The glass composition has one or more of the following characteristics: (i) a low temperature (form 25° C. to 300° C.) coefficient thermal expansion (LTCTE) of less than 7.5 ppm/° C.; (ii) high temperature coefficient thermal expansion (HTCTE) of less than 18 ppm/° C.; (iii) liquidus viscosity of at least 200,000 poise; (iv) glass temperature of at least 1100° C. at 200,000 poise or at least 1200° C. at 35,000 poise; and (v) a fictive temperature Tf less than about 795° C.
