Abstract: A novel image processing method is provided.
In a display device in which a video signal is individually supplied to a screen divided into two, the entire screen is subjected to up-conversion processing after being divided, and another up-conversion processing is performed for a boundary portion of the screen divided into two. The divided up-conversion processing for the entire screen and the up-conversion processing for the boundary portion are performed in parallel with the use of a plurality of arithmetic units. The divided up-conversion processing for the entire screen and the up-conversion processing for the boundary portion can be performed using different algorithms.

Abstract: A display device capable of improving image quality with low power consumption is provided. A storage node is provided in each pixel and a first signal can be held in the storage node. A second signal is added to the first signal by capacitive coupling to generate a third signal. A display element operates in response to the third signal. Thus, regardless of the output voltage of a driver that supplies data, a high voltage can be supplied to the display element. Consequently, even a display element that requires a relatively high voltage for operation can operate with low power consumption.

Abstract: A display apparatus having an excellent boosting function is provided. The display apparatus is provided with a pixel having a function of adding data (a boosting function). A capacitor for boosting voltage is provided in the pixel, and data is added by capacitive coupling to be supplied to a display device. The capacitor for boosting voltage and a capacitor for retaining data are placed on top of each other, whereby the capacitance value of the capacitor for boosting voltage can be increased. Thus, the pixel can have an excellent boosting function, without significantly losing the aperture ratio or definition.

Abstract: A display device whose change in chromaticity is small and grayscale controllability is high is provided. The display device can turn on and turn off a light-emitting device by PAM and PWM control (a pulse width control involving changes in amplitude). The display device writes the same input signal (data potential) to a first node and a second node to turn on the light-emitting device in accordance with a potential of the first node and generate a pulse signal in accordance with a potential of the second node. The potential of the first node can be reset in accordance with the generated pulse signal. Therefore, the light-emitting device can emit light for a desired period with a desired emission intensity.
