[Also in Divisions C3, C5 and C7] A self-lubricating bearing comprises the solidified product of a mixture of (a) 4-44% of mercury, gallium or an alloy of gallium with one or more of Pb, In, Sn or Bi and (b) 56-96% of a powdered component consisting of the powdered selenides or sulphides of W, Mo, Nb or Ta, in a total amount of at least 5% based on the total body composition any remaining balance being powdered. Ag or alloys thereof containing at least 90% Ag, Cu or alloys thereof containing at least 90% Cu or resin (e.g. P.T.F.E.) powders. In examples the powders are mixed with the low melting point metal or alloy, the mixture is compacted at 5000-100,000 p.s.i. and cured by heating for 1-24 hours three times at 300- 500‹ F., 600-800‹ F. and 800-1100‹ F. respectively in a neutral or non-oxidizing atmosphere (e.g. Ar).
