Abstract:
The present invention relates to a lubricating composition containing an alkali metal borate. The invention further provides for a method of lubricating a device with grease or a metalworking fluid by employing the lubricating composition containing the alkali metal borate.
Abstract:
A protective coating is formed on a metallic material surface by applying a treating agent comprising water, an alkali silicate, and, optionally, a lubricating component to the surface and drying the treating agent. The coating film thereby formed has excellent anti-galling and rust preventive properties. If a lubricating component is present, the coating film also has excellent self-lubricating properties.
Abstract:
A grease composition using lubricating base oil that is biodegradable by microorganisms in nature and has an affinity to the human body is provided. More particularly, a distillation residue secondarily generated in production of biodiesel from vegetable oil (soybean oil and canola oil) is used as the lubricating base oil.The grease composition is produced by adding 1 to 20 wt % of additives to 100 to 95 wt % of distillation residues, which is generated in production of biodiesel, and 1 to 30 wt % of thickeners.
Abstract:
A method for making a lubricating fast-setting epoxy compound comprising: mixing under vacuum dispersion a first micro-crystalline filler, a first talc, and a titanium oxide into a hardenable epoxide containing liquid forming an epoxy base. A second micro-crystalline filler, a second talc, and a hydrocarbon resin are mixed forming an accelerator mixture. A methylamino accelerator is mixed into the accelerator mixture forming an epoxy accelerator. Substantially equal amounts of the epoxy base and the epoxy accelerator are mixed to form the lubricating fast-setting epoxy compound having a high lubricity and a curing time ranging from two minutes to twelve minutes. Adjusting the mixing speed and temperature of the epoxy base, the accelerator mixture, and the epoxy accelerator is contemplated to promote homogeneity. The epoxy base can also include a flatting agent. The epoxy accelerator can also include a modified aliphatic amine, an acrylic resin, a coloring agent, or combinations thereof.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to enhanced compositions that facilitate the pulling of cables through conduits. In one embodiment, the composition comprises a sufficient amount of boron nitride, which, upon application onto the cable surface, allows the cable to be pulled faster and/or with less force through the conduit than without the boron nitride present. The invention further relates to a method for pulling cables through conduits by applying an effective amount of boron nitride composition onto the cable surface. Lastly, the invention relates to an apparatus for distributing a cable-pulling composition comprising a block of boron nitride onto a cable as it is being pulled through a conduit.
Abstract:
A grease for rock bit lubrication and other high temperature bearing applications is provided comprising a high viscosity index polyalphaolefin synthetic base fluid in combination with an alkylated naphthalene base fluid.
Abstract:
A composition is disclosed which comprises an aryl perfluoropolyether, optionally a halogenated oil, and further optionally a thickening agent. The composition can be used as a lubricant itself or as an additive to an oil or grease lubricant and can withstand temperatures higher than 300° C. without decomposition. The halogenated oil can be a perfluoropolyether, a fluorosilicone, a polytrifluorochloroethylene, or combinations of two or more thereof. The thickening agent can be finely divided silica, boron nitride, clay, soap, poly(tetrafluoroethylene), clay, talc, silica, titanium dioxide, polydimethylsiloxane, polyurea, polyurethane, or combinations of two or more thereof.
Abstract:
In a particular embodiment, the invention concerns a lubricating grease having 70 to 95 percent by weight of a mixture that includes at least a first ester of fatty acid and of sorbitan, and at least a second ester of fatty acid and of polyoxyalkylated sorbitan. The esters are present in quantities by weight, relative to the weight of the mixture, of 10 to 90 percent and 90 to 10 percent respectively. The grease also includes from 5 to 30 percent by weight of at least one thickening agent.
Abstract:
The rolling bearing of the invention to be incorporated in the compressor for fuel cell system comprises a fluorine-based grease containing a fluororesin and a fluorine-based oil, a urea grease containing a urea compound and a synthetic oil or a lithium complex grease containing a lithium complex and a synthetic oil encapsulated therein. In this arrangement, the grease deterioration of the rolling bearing incorporated in the compressor for force-feeding various fluids between machines can be prevented, making it possible to provide a fuel cell system which can maintain stable operation over an extended period of time.
Abstract:
A lubricant for a run-flat tire system includes a solubilized oil, an oil-miscible or oil-soluble carrier fluid or other non aqueous carrier fluid, a thickener, and a surfactant. The thickening system hereof retains its rheological properties and is not subject to permanent thinning shear. When admixed with optionally, a surfactant and, a lubricity agent, the lubricant exhibits long term viscometric stability (shelf life) and prevents the buildup of heat due to friction in the tire assembly when the tire is in the run-flat condition.
