Abstract:
An apparatus for producing hot mix asphalt from 100% recycled pavement aggregates includes a rotatable inclined drum having a central axis and having a first and second end. A heat source spaced from one of the ends introduces hot gas into the drum via one of the first and second ends. An aggregate supply introduces aggregate into the drum through one of the first and second ends. A RAP collar spaced from the ends and positioned around the drum is used to introduce sand through openings beneath the collar into the drum as the drum is rotated. The RAP collar has an annular heat and smoke shield fastened around the drum for minimizing escape of hot gas from the drum openings beneath the RAP collar. The drum has replaceable buckets within the openings for receiving, holding and distributing sand into the drum as the drum rotates about its axis.
Abstract:
A device for manufacturing hot-mix coated materials includes an oven (1) having an enclosure (2) provided towards its two opposite ends with a main inlet (3) designed to receive granular materials and with a main outlet; and a heater (10) defining a combustion section (5) inside the enclosure (2). The enclosure (2) starting with the combustion section (5) and continuing with a drying section (6), and then with a mixing section (7). The device is further provided with a bypass outlet (11) and with an external mixer (12) that is connected to the bypass outlet (11), which outlet is fitted with a blocking system (15) allowing granular materials to pass towards the inlet (13) of the external mixer (12) and a closed position allowing granular materials to pass towards the mixing section (7).
Abstract:
An exhaust quenching system is provided for use in connection with an asphalt concrete production plant having a dryer for drying aggregate material, an exhaust gas outlet conduit for discharge of exhaust gases from the dryer, and a dust collection assembly that is adapted to receive exhaust gases and entrained dust from the dryer via the exhaust gas outlet conduit. The exhaust quenching system is adapted to effect evaporative cooling of the exhaust gases in the exhaust gas outlet conduit upstream of the dust collection assembly.
Abstract:
A combination of components for use in making asphalt concrete from a mixture of virgin aggregate material with recycled asphalt products and/or recycled asphalt shingles encompasses a direct dryer for heating virgin aggregate material; a pre-dryer for heating recycled asphalt product and/or recycled asphalt shingles, said pre-dryer using warm exhaust gas from said direct dryer to heat the recycled asphalt product and/or recycled asphalt shingles; and means for conveying warm exhaust gas from said direct dryer to said pre-dryer.
Abstract:
A rotary drying cylinder (1) for plants for the production of bituminous macadams, extending along a main axis (2). The drying cylinder (1) comprises a burner (7), connected to the cylinder, which generates a flame (9) that extends inside the cylinder (1). The drying cylinder (1) internally comprises a tube-shaped shielding structure (10) having an axis of extension which is substantially parallel with the main axis (2) and extending from the burner (7) so that, in practice, the flame (9) is at least mainly confined within the shielding structure (10), there thus being a separating ring (12) between the shielding structure (10) and the inner surface (13) of the drying cylinder (1). The shielding structure (10) comprises a plurality of hollows (17) facing towards the inner surface (13) of the drying cylinder (1) for containing, in practice, the material being dried. The shielding structure (10) is at least mainly made of heat conducting materials.
Abstract:
A rotary drier for plants for the production of bituminous macadams with the use of recycled materials comprises a hollow rotary cylinder (2), heating means (9) connected to one end (4) of the cylinder (2), an aggregates infeed section (7) connected to one end of the cylinder (2), a dried material outfeed section (8) connected to the other end and an insertion section (24) for inserting recycled cut material into the cylinder (2), the insertion section being connected to an intermediate portion of the cylinder (2). The insertion section (24) comprises a plurality of radial openings (31) distributed circumferentially on the cylinder (2) inner surface (18) and covered by a covering structure (33) which also comprises a plurality of separator plates (34) circumferentially distributed along the cylinder (2) inner surface (18) so that between each pair of adjacent separator plates (34) there is at least one radial opening (31), the separator plates forming a plurality of first channels (35) for guided insertion of the cut material into the cylinder (2). There are also means (32) for feeding the cut material to the openings (31), said means being located on the outside of the cylinder (2). The covering structure (33) is fastened to the cylinder (2) inner surface upstream of the openings (31), extending in the material feed direction and is distanced from the cylinder (2) inner surface (18) downstream of the openings (31) for putting the openings (31) in communication with the inside of the cylinder (2).
Abstract:
