    Abstract: A power tool for applying a rotational force to a spring of a door counterbalancing mechanism. The power tool has a rotatable drive member mounted on a casing carrying a power transmitting structure. The drive member has a slot with an open end for accommodating the shaft of the counterbalancing mechanism. A releasable coupling structure drivably connects the drive member with the collar attached to the spring so that rotation of the drive member will apply rotational force to the spring. A motor connected to the power transmitting structure is operable to rotate the drive member. A socket adapter or pipe adapter can be connected to the drive member so that the power tool is usable to rotate nuts, bolts and pipes.

    Abstract: An adjustable spring loading mechanism for use in controlling the movement of doors and the like. The mechanism includes a cylinder housing and a piston slideable within the housing. A plurality of biasing means are arranged in the housing in engagement with the piston, and apply individual biasing forces to the piston which cooperate to produce a total resultant biasing force. The biasing means are provided with different effective lengths so as to engage with the piston at different positions in the cylinder and thereby vary the total biasing force.

    Abstract: A door having horizontally hinged sections is supported upon reinforced track means for movement between an upright closed position and an open position. A counterbalance mechanism, which is mounted upon the wall above the opening, is connected to the door to counteract gravity. The counterbalance springs are connected to fusible link means which melts at a predetermined temperature and thereby reduces the tension on the springs so that the door will close under the force of gravity. Governor means is rendered operative when the fusible link is ruptured to control the closing movement of the door.

    Abstract: A winding device for adjusting the elastic energy of an overhead door spring system installed on a wall structure, the door having at least a door panel which can be moved up and down constrained within a track. The door also has a counterbalancing system with a coil spring having a stationary end and a winding end. The door system also has a central shaft held within the counterbalancing system. The winding device has a worm gear with a flange, or collar portion, a worm screw engaged by the worm gear, a box or container or a retainer to hold the worm gear and worm screw together in an engagement status. The worm gear is engaged with the central shaft by at least one fastener. It can also be used to lift said door directly when said spring is broken, or there is no spring at all.
