Abstract: A computing system and method for object recognition is presented. The method includes the computing system obtaining an image for representing the one or more objects, and generating a target image portion associated with one of the one or more objects. The computing system determines whether to classify the target image portion as textured or textureless, and selects a template storage space from among a first and second template storage space, wherein the first template storage space is cleared more often relative to the second template storage space. The first template storage space is selected in response to a textureless classification, and the second template storage space is selected as the template storage space in response to a textured classification. The computing system performs object recognition based on the target image portion and the selected template storage space.

Abstract: A system and method for scoring trained probes for use in analyzing one or more candidate poses of a runtime image is provided. A set of probes with location and gradient direction based on a trained model are applied to one or more candidate poses based upon a runtime image. The applied probes each respectively include a discrete set of position offsets with respect to the gradient direction thereof. A match score is computed for each of the probes, which includes estimating a best match position for each of the probes respectively relative to one of the offsets thereof, and generating a set of individual probe scores for each of the probes, respectively at the estimated best match position.

Abstract: A mechanism is described for facilitating the transfer of features learned by a context independent pre-trained deep neural network to a context dependent neural network. The mechanism includes extracting a feature learned by a first deep neural network (DNN) model via the framework, wherein the first DNN model is a pre-trained DNN model for computer vision to enable context-independent classification of an object within an input video frame and training, via the deep learning framework, a second DNN model for computer vision based on the extracted feature, the second DNN model an update of the first DNN model, wherein training the second DNN model includes training the second DNN model based on a dataset including context-dependent data.
