Abstract:
A facsimile apparatus has a line interface for facsimile communication and is capable of communicating with a host computer through a remote host computer interface or a local host computer interface. The facsimile apparatus includes a facsimile data transferring unit for transferring facsimile data to the host computer through the remote host computer interface or the local host computer interface; an interface recognizing unit for recognizing the host computer interface that is connected from among the remote host computer interface and the local host computer interface; a transfer destination registering unit for registering a destination of the host computer to which the facsimile data transferring unit transfers the facsimile data through the remote host computer interface when the interface recognizing unit recognizes that the remote host computer interface is connected.
Abstract:
An image scanner device connected to a general information processing apparatus can be used on a network at a low cost, and further, the firmware of hardware for this purpose can be a maintenance-free firmware, thus user's convenience can be improved. A scanner/network connection apparatus 100 to connect a scanner 200 to a network 300 has an LCD server to drive a LCD as a display unit, a touch panel task to transmit a touch position on a touch panel, and a SCSI server to connect the scanner 200 to the network. A PC 500 to control the scanner has a virtual LCD driver, a virtual touch panel driver, and a virtual SCSI driver, operating to provide an environment as if the LCD, the touch panel and the image scanner of the scanner/network connection apparatus 100 are connected to the PC 500. The virtual LCD driver draws a screen image as a user interface for various operations, and the result of drawing is displayed on the LCD of the scanner/network connection apparatus 100. Thus an interactive operation environment can be provided to the user.
Abstract:
When sending photographic image data obtained in an electronic camera 1 via a communication interface 42 to a radio telephone line of a PDC 3, a PHS 4, etc., an RISC-CPU 11 converts the image data to data having a configuration allowing communication and further converts by software processing the communication-allowing configuration data to data corresponding to the type of the radio telephone line.
Abstract:
A multifunction device including a body, a media slot placed on the body and which receives a media card and a control panel including a media card indicator that illuminates when a media card has been inserted into the media slot, wherein the media card indicator and the media slot are on different planes.
Abstract:
Methods for facilitating the installation of computer devices are provided. An installation application that runs on a user's personal computer may be used to facilitate the installation of a device that is connected to the personal computer with a cable or a wireless connection. At the beginning of the installation process, the installation application may check to determine whether the user has properly formed the connection between the device and the personal computer. If the connection has not been formed properly, the user may be informed and appropriate remedial actions may be taken before the installation process is complete.
Abstract:
In a facsimile apparatus including numeric keys for entering dial numbers or abbreviated dial numbers, a transmission instruction key for instructing the processing for transmission, a storage unit for storing dial information and received information, a scanner which is removable from a main body of the apparatus having a reading and storing units, a scanner connecting unit for connecting said scanner to the main body of the apparatus and a printing unit for visually outputting an image data which is stored in said storing unit, the image data which is stored in the storing unit of the scanner is output only by mounting said scanner on a main body of the apparatus.
Abstract:
Managing a plurality of multifunction network devices on a network, each multifunction network device having a plurality of hardware resources including a storage memory for storing a plurality of function modules, a program memory for use by the function modules and a processor for executing each of the function modules, including detecting a reconfiguration event for one of the plurality of multifunction network devices, sending a reconfiguration command to the one multifunction network device, the reconfiguration command being a deletion command to delete at least one of the function modules or an allocation command to reallocate an amount of at least one of the hardware resources available for use by each of the plurality of function modules, and receiving confirmation that the one multifunction network device has been reconfigured in accordance with the reconfiguration command.
Abstract:
In a mobile communication terminal according to an aspect of the invention, it is detects whether an external unit is connected to an earphone jack. If it is detected that an external unit is connected to the earphone jack, it is determined whether the external unit is an earphone unit or an electronic flash unit. If the external unit is the electronic flash unit, an audio path provided in the terminal to transmit an audio signal within the terminal will be connected to a microphone and a speaker provided in the terminal.
Abstract:
A digital electronic camera which can accept various types of input/output cards or memory cards. When an I/O card is inserted into and connected with the camera, a processor within the camera determines the type of I/O card which has been connected by reading a memory location within the card. A control program which is contained in the I/O card is transferred to a memory within the camera in order for the camera to perform I/O functions which correspond to the type of the inserted card. Different types of I/O cards which may be used include a modem card, a LAN card, a SCSI card, or an ISDN interface. Image signals and audio signals are transmitted between the camera and an external processor, information describing the status of the camera is transmitted from the camera to the external processor, and commands to control the camera are transmitted to the camera from the external processor.
Abstract:
An image reader is provided with a reader body, an optional unit optionally and detachably attached to the reader body, an image sensor including a light receiving area on which a light is received, the light receiving area having a first light receiving area portion on which a light reflected on the original is received and a second light receiving area portion, the second light receiving area portion being arranged on the remaining portion of the light receiving area other than the first light receiving area portion, and control unit connected to the image sensor, for reading the image impression based on the detected result from the first light receiving area portion and for detecting the attachment of the optional unit to the reader body based on the detected result from the second light receiving area portion.
