Abstract:
The present invention provides recyclable copper clad laminates (CCLs) each including copper coil and a recyclable/degradable fiber composition, and printed circuit boards that are made of or include the CCLs of this invention. Also provided are method for recycling these CCLs and printed circuit boards.
Abstract:
A hot melt adhesive including a poly(lactide) homopolymer or copolymer with a molecular weight of about 1000 to about 40000 Daltons; and a plasticizer including an ester with about 50% to about 99% bio-based content; wherein the viscosity of the hot melt adhesive composition is about 500 to about 15,000 cPs at 350 F, and wherein the hot melt adhesive composition is substantially free of tackifying resins.
Abstract:
A plastic film is produced by blending a polymer with particles encapsulating an oxidizing agent, such as hydrogen peroxide. Optionally, an “oxodegradable” and/or “oxo biodegradable” additive that promotes degradation of the polymer in the presence of oxygen may be blended into the plastic film. The presence of the oxidizing agent within the plastic film ensures degradation of an article of manufacture, e.g., a plastic bag, when it is disposed of in an anaerobic environment, such as a landfill. In some embodiments, the particles are microcapsules and/or nanocapsules each having a polymer shell encapsulating a core that includes the oxidizing agent. In some embodiments, the particles are microparticles and/or nanoparticles each having a matrix in which the oxidizing agent is encapsulated.
Abstract:
Provided herein are bioplastics that can include a protein and a plasticizer, methods of making the bioplastics, and uses thereof. The bioplastics can also include an anti-infective compound and/or a low-density polyethylene. The bioplastics described herein can have antimicrobial, including antibacterial, properties.
Abstract:
Biodegradable agricultural compositions comprising 1,3-propanediol and its esters are provided. The 1,3-propanediol and its esters in the agricultural composition are biologically derived, and as such, the agricultural compositions exhibit a low anthropogenic CO2 emission profile.
Abstract:
Biodegradable flavoring agent compositions comprising 1,3-propanediol are provided, and the 1,3-propanediol in the composition is biologically derived. The compositions exhibit a lower anthropogenic CO2 emission profile. Also provided are biodegradable flavoring agent compositions comprising an ester of 1,3-propanediol. In these compositions, the ester can have at least 3% biobased carbon.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a biodegradable halogen-free flame retardants composition used for fire-safety and prevention, that limits and extinguishes fires by means of increased resistance to ignition, slowing down burning rates and the rate of heat, smoke and toxic gas release from polymers with different physical and chemical properties and structure, such as textiles, wooden materials, paper, cardboard, corrugated board, leather, cellular polystyrene, foamed polyurethane, and items made of them. The composition according to the invention contains orthophosphoric acid, urea, triethanolamine, ammonia water, polydimethylsiloxane, surfactant, which may be anionic, cationic, amphoteric, non-ionic or mixtures thereof and water.
Abstract:
Personal care compositions comprising esters of 1,3-propanediol and acceptable carriers are provided. The esters can have at least 3% biobased carbon, and the compositions can further comprise 1,3-propanediol that is biologically-derived. Also provided are processes for producing personal care compositions comprising esters of 1,3-propanediol and acceptable carriers. The processes comprise providing biologically produced 1,3-propanediol, contacting the 1,3-propanediol with organic acids, which produces the esters, recovering the esters, and incorporating the esters into personal care formulations. Also provided are processes of making a personal care composition comprising providing an ester of 1,3 propanediol and mixing the ester with an acceptable carrier to form a personal care composition.
