Abstract:
A swash plate for a swash plate compressor, wherein aluminum alloy containing 12 to 60% of Si and, as required, 0.1 to 30% of Sn is sprayed onto the iron or aluminum base plate of the swash plate compressor to form a seizure-resisting and abrasion-resisting surface layer dispersed with granulated Si.
Abstract:
A modular family of internal combustion engines is described. The family includes at least three engine configurations selected from a single cylinder, V-type, inline, opposed, W-type, and radial configurations. Each of the engines in the family includes at least one cylinder with identical top end packages. A method for designing such a family of engines is also disclosed. A family of recreational vehicles and method for designing a family of recreational vehicles is also disclosed.
Abstract:
Pistons, which are reciprocated by a swash plate of a compressor, have two separate parts joined together. Each piston has a body and a coupler. The coupler is connected to the swash plate. The body is made of thermosetting resin. The body is molded to the coupler. Accordingly, the piston body to be firmly connected to the coupler.
Abstract:
A four stroke internal combustion engine having cooling system for cooling the engine is disclosed. The cooling system includes a closed loop cooling system for cooling at least a portion of the engine. The cooling system also includes an open loop cooling system for cooling at least a portion of the engine. The open loop cooling system uses coolant from an external source (e.g., a body of water) to cool the engine.
Abstract:
An improved two-piece assembly having a piston skirt and piston crown made from two different materials. The piston assembly attaching to a piston rod without the use of an external bore in the piston skirt.
Abstract:
The four stroke internal engine having an air intake system connected to the cylinder head and operatively connected to the intake passageway. The air intake system includes an air intake manifold having symmetrical construction with a central air passageway extending between a first end and a second end. At least one passageway extends from the central air passageway to a free end, which is operatively coupled to the intake passageway. The air intake system is usable for both a supercharged and normally aspirated engines.
Abstract:
A cylinder liner cast into a reciprocating piston engine made of a supereutectic aluminum/silicon alloy which is free of mixed-in particles of hard material and which is composed in such a way that fine silicon primary crystals and intermetallic particles automatically form from the melt as hard particles. A blank is allowed to grow from finely sprayed melt droplets by spray compaction, with a fine distribution of hard particles being produced by setting the spray for small melt droplets. The fine-grained, hard particles formed from the melt and also the mechanical exposure of the hard particles on the surface of the cylinder results not only in high wear resistance and high contact area of the surface, but also in gentle treatment of the piston and its rings.
Abstract:
In order to prevent a damage on a component forming a pressure feed fuel passage and to reduce a fuel injection pump in size and weight, the pressure feed fuel passage having fuel discharge passage, fuel chamber and accommodation hole formed in respective cylinder heads is formed straightly in respective cylinder heads, and has communication port for communicating with fuel pressure chamber and fuel outlet which has an opening at an outer peripheral wall of the cylinder heads. Fuel pressurized in fuel pressure chamber at the cylinder head side is introduced into fuel chamber of cylinder head via fuel passage and fuel lines. Fuel pressurized in both fuel pressure chambers is merged at fuel chamber of cylinder head, and is supplied to a common-rail via fuel passage.
Abstract:
A butterfly valve assembly includes a valve shaft supported by a bearing so as to rotate around its longitudinal axis and having a first end and a second end, an actuator connected to the first end of the valve shaft, and a valve-opening sensor connected to the second end of the valve shaft and having a return spring therein that applies a force to the valve shaft perpendicularly to its longitudinal axis. The return spring disposed in the valve-opening sensor continuously applies its resilient force to both ends of the valve shaft in one direction, so that the valve shaft can be restricted in its free movement within the bearing, therefore the rattling noise, due to the vibration of the valve shaft within the bearing, can be prevented. Also the whole structure of the butterfly valve assembly can be simplified because the return spring prevents each connection between the valve shaft and the actuator, and between the valve shaft and the valve-opening sensor, from freely moving within its play without using additional return spring.
Abstract:
A hot water conduit is formed between an inner cylinder and an outer cylinder. A gasket seals an annular opening of the hot water conduit facing to a surge tank. Hot water is supplied into the conduit from an engine cooling water passage. Heat of the hot water is effectively transferred to the entire vicinity or surrounding of a throttle valve, thereby effectively avoiding icing phenomenon of the throttle apparatus.
