Abstract:
The presently disclosed embodiments are directed to systems and methods for transmitting a secure electronic fax or scan transmission report for a fax or scan job from a fax capable printer or a multifunctional device respectively. When the electronic confirmation (EConfirmation) option is selected, the machine sends an email comprising a status of the fax or scan job to the sender and a hyperlink. The sender then selects or “clicks” on the hyperlink, which connects to the machine Web (UI) Services. Web services automatically retrieves the job information and correctly displays all previously entered selections. The sender then simply verifies the information, makes any necessary changes and selects or “clicks” a button on the Web services to retransmit the fax or scan documents. In another embodiment, the sender is given an option to reformat a scan job by compressing or changing job parameters of the scan job. A method is also provided to automatically reformat the scan job and retransmit the reformatted scan job over the network if the transmission fails due to insufficient storage requirements and/or file size limitations at the destination.
Abstract:
A network communication device is provided with e-mail message composing means and e-mail message transmitting/receiving means. The e-mail message composing means has functions of incorporating an MDN request and return transmission conditions into an e-mail message and of consolidating MDN responses for multiple received e-mail messages into a collective MDN response to compose a single e-mail message. The e-mail message transmitting/receiving means has a function of recognizing the MDN request and the return transmission conditions. The network communication device is further provided with: reception result monitoring means which monitors the reception of an e-mail message to see whether it is a success or failure and which composes an MDN response; and disposition notification controlling means which monitors return transmission conditions incorporated in a received e-mail message and which, if the return transmission conditions are met, instructs the e-mail message composing means to compose a collective MDN response and the e-mail message transmitting/receiving means to transmit the composed collective MDN response. Thus, the invention enables collective confirmation of MDN responses to multiple e-mail messages.

A data transmission apparatus acquires transmission processing information that includes a transmission destination for transmitting data, notification information related to transmission of data to the transmission destination, and a notification destination for notifying the notification information. The data transmission apparatus transmits data to the transmission destination included in the transmission processing information, and notifies the notification information to the notification destination included in the transmission processing information.
Abstract:
After a print request is made from a personal computer to a multifunction peripheral, when a user who logs into the multifunction peripheral instructs an execution of the print request in the multifunction peripheral, the multifunction peripheral requests the personal computer to transmit image data. Then, the personal computer transmits the requested image data to the multifunction peripheral. The multifunction peripheral executes the printing using the received image data. When the printing is completed, the multifunction peripheral transmits a completion notification indicating that the printing is completed to the personal computer. When receiving the completion notification, the personal computer transmits a completion notification having the same content as the received completion notification to the multifunction peripheral.
Abstract:
A data transmission system is provided that enables a user to move away before the completion of data transmission regardless of whether a refund is made in association with occurrence of a communication error when a data transmitting apparatus performs data transmission and collects a consideration. The data transmitting apparatus includes a consideration receiving portion that receives a consideration of FAX data transmission, a report destination input portion that inputs a report destination of a user, and a FAX transmission error detecting portion that detects a communication error at the time of the FAX data transmission. In case the FAX transmission error detecting portion detects a communication error, the system including the data transmitting apparatus transmits refund information for refunding the consideration of the FAX data transmission with the communication error to the report destination input through the report destination input portion.

In an image processing system an information processor is connected to an image processor. When the image processor detects that a job is completed, the image processor transmits to an image processor that indicates the job information notifying in accordance with a first or second communications protocol that the job is completed. The information processor converts in a predetermined format the information transmitted in accordance with the first communications protocol to notify that a job is completed. Furthermore, the information processor also converts in the predetermined format the information transmitted in accordance with the second communications protocol to notify that a job is completed. The information processor then displays the converted information collectively.
Abstract:
A document transmission apparatus reduces troublesome labor of an operator when transmitting document data, inputted from a scanner or the like, by various transmission methods such as electronic mail, facsimile, remote printing and file transfer. An address book containing a receiver and a plurality of transmission methods for transmitting document data to the receiver is generated. Upon transmission instruction, an appropriate transmission method is selected by the receiver, then document data is converted into data of an appropriate data format, and the converted data is transmitted. Further, a notice of transmission indicating that the document data has been transmitted is transmitted to the receiver of the document data by a method different from the transmission method of the document data. Thus, the document data can be reliably delivered to the receiver.

A destination address of transmission of designated image data attached to e-mail and a notification destination address to be notified of error information if a transmission error occurs are set. If a transmission error occurs due to size excess of the transmitted e-mail, retransmission confirmation information containing the error information and designate input accept information for accepting designate input which designates whether to execute retransmission of the e-mail in which the transmission error has occurred is generated. The generated retransmission confirmation information is notified to a notification destination specified by the set notification destination address.
