A loudspeaker system designed for ceiling installation. The system includes a woofer, a midrange speaker and a tweeter commonly supported on a rotatable support member which in turn is supported on and is rotatable with respect to an annular rim that is designed to be fixed about an opening in the ceiling. The woofer is aligned at one acute angle and the midrange speaker and tweeter at another acute angle to the annular rim. The mid range speaker and tweeter are partially segregated from the woofer by a baffle.

A ceiling-mounted speaker system which employs directional-radiating electro-acoustic transducer arrays which aim sound waves at suitable surfaces in the room, whereby the sound is perceived as coming from a location matching a screen location. Pattern control of the sound radiation provided by signal delay within array columns and rows enhances sound clarity.
Abstract:
A loudspeaker system including a plurality of sonic converters fixed in or to the rear of sound passage openings of a carrier plate is disclosed. The carrier plate is configured in the form of a wall plate for interior spaces or outside facades of buildings and the sonic converters are integrated into the carrier plate. The loudspeaker system or loudspeaker wall plate, respectively, permit the realization of an optimum acoustic irradiation of a space without aesthetically annoying loudspeaker boxes.

An audio system comprises, according to one aspect of the invention, an audio frequency actuator coupled to a body so as to cause the body to radiate sound when an audio signal is supplied to the actuator by a controller, and an acoustic sensor coupled to said body or to an adjacent body so as to sense acoustic vibrations in said body, the sensor being connected to the controller, whereby the controller is arranged to change the audio signal supplied to the actuator according to the vibrations sensed by the sensor. Another aspect provides an audio system comprising an audio frequency actuator coupled to a body so as to cause the body to radiate sound when an audio signal is supplied to the actuator by a controller, and an acoustic sensor coupled to said body or to an adjacent body so as to sense acoustic vibrations in said body, the sensor being connected to the controller, whereby the controller is arranged to detect predetermined characteristics of the sensed acoustic vibrations and to output an alerting signal in response thereto.

A vehicle overhead audio system, an electromagnetic transducer assembly for use therein and a computer system programmed with a graphic software control for changing the audio system's signal level and delay are provided where a headliner of the vehicle is a loudspeaker of the system thereby replacing many other loudspeakers and being invisible to the occupants. The headliner is driven in multiple zones that effect proper imaging for all occupants. Supplemental high frequency and subwoofer speakers and signal processing circuitry are included in one aspect of the invention.

The disclosure relates to an in-wall speaker system, specifically a system that is not readily visible and mounted in a room. The in-wall speaker system is comprised of a base frame is adapted to be mounted between support members of a wall. The in-wall speaker system further has a speaker assembly mounted to the base frame and an active member that has an outer surface which is substantially coplanar with the surrounding wall section and in one form extends slightly outward therefrom. The base frame, speaker assembly, and the active member cooperate to form an acoustic chamber that is positioned behind the inner surface of the active member. Acoustic energy is transferred from the speaker assembly to the active member where the sound is produced therefrom to the room.
Abstract:
A speaker system features a plurality of transducers arranged to produce a sound field similar to that of an acoustic point source. The arrangement of transducers optimizes the sound field by reducing the sound energy directed towards the primary reflective surfaces within the room in which they are placed. In a preferred embodiment, four medium-size transducers (woofers) operate together to reproduce the low-range to mid-range frequencies with the woofers positioned so that no two woofers share a common vertical axis or a common horizontal axis, and so that the horizontal and vertical axes of the woofers are evenly spaced. Preferably a center of a fifth transducer, a high frequency tweeter, is placed at the center of a pattern formed by the center of the woofers. The fifth transducer is set at a depth within the enclosure that is at the same acoustic center as the acoustic center of the woofers.
