Abstract: A shower assembly. The assembly may include a shower device including a device housing defining an inlet communicating with an inlet chamber, an outlet and a waterway communicating between the inlet chamber and the outlet, the device housing further defining a receptacle having a closed end and an open end, the inlet chamber being behind the closed end, the waterway extending along the receptacle from the closed end toward the open end; and a second device supportable in the receptacle. The outlet may define an outlet plane, and the second device may include a housing providing an outlet, the outlet being one of aligned with and positioned forwardly of the outlet plane when the speaker is supported in the receptacle. The assembly may further include a magnetic connecting structure operable to releasably connect the second device and the shower device.

Abstract: A ceiling-mounted microphone array enclosure includes a room panel and a top panel. The room panel includes a border of solid material that surrounds a central sound permeable area having sound permeable perforations. The top panel is connected to the room panel through connectors arranged along the border of solid material. The top panel can have sides and be connected to the room panel such that there is a gap to permit improved airflow, or sides of the top panel can connect directly to the bottom panel without a gap. A microphone array and other electronic components can be arranged within the enclosure and then ceiling mounted within a ceiling grid. Multiple differently sized room panels can be manufactured in such a way that they can connect directly to the top panel. To reduce manufacturing costs, each of the top panels can be manufactured having the same size and design.

Abstract: Embodiments include a microphone assembly comprising an array microphone and a housing configured to support the array microphone and sized and shaped to be mountable in a drop ceiling in place of at least one of a plurality of ceiling tiles included in the drop ceiling. A front face of the housing includes a sound-permeable screen having a size and shape that is substantially similar to the at least one of the plurality of ceiling tiles. Embodiments also include an array microphone system comprising a plurality of microphones arranged, on a substrate, in a number of concentric, nested rings of varying sizes around a central point of the substrate. Each ring comprises a subset of the plurality of microphones positioned at predetermined intervals along a circumference of the ring.

Abstract: An example system for monitoring an occupant of a room includes an enclosure, a speaker plate, a speaker, an infrared illuminator, a camera, and a power-over-Ethernet (PoE) splitter. The enclosure is mountable within an interior surface of the room. The speaker plate is removably positionable within the enclosure, and includes a speaker opening and an illuminator opening. The speaker is positioned within the speaker opening and mounted to the speaker plate. The infrared illuminator is positioned within the illuminator opening and mounted to the speaker plate. The PoE splitter is configured to: receive power and data over a first Ethernet cable, provide power to the speaker, the infrared illuminator, and the camera; and output the data to the camera over a second Ethernet cable. The camera is configured to send an audio signal to the speaker over an audio cable.

Abstract: A loudspeaker system is provided herein comprising: a digital transmitter adapted to store, retrieve, and transmit digital messages over a network cable using an audio over internet protocol (AoIP), and wherein the transmitted digital messages are individually addressable using an IP address, and wherein the transmitted digital messages contain digital audio messages and digital command and control messages; an endpoint enclosure adapted to have a unique IP address pre-assigned to it such that the endpoint enclosure is adapted to receive the transmitted digital messages addressed to it and extract the digital audio messages and the digital command and control messages from the transmitted and received digital messages, and wherein the endpoint enclosure comprises additional circuitry adapted to extract the digital audio messages from the received digital messages and power from the network cable, and generate an electrical audio signal from the extracted digital audio messages; an “N” position switch adapted to receive the electrical audio signal from the additional circuitry and output the same on one or more of “N” output ports based on the position of the switch; and a first set of loudspeakers adapted to receive the electrical audio signal and broadcast the same as an acoustic audio signal.

Abstract: A sound diffuser for a ceiling speaker system having a downward-facing (when installed) flat disc cover plate and a flat barrel flange that assists in clamping a ceiling tile. The downward facing surfaces of the disc cover plate and a flat ring releasably attached to, and covering, the barrel flange are printable surfaces. The ring and the disc are magnetically attractable and are held in place with magnets. The ring and the disc cover plate can be rotated to align patterns printed on the ring and the disc cover plate to align to a pattern on the ceiling and to each other. Three-dimensional printing of the ring and/or the disc cover plate is included. The diffuser is preferably used in conjunction with the SMALL CEILING SPEAKER SYSTEM of U.S. patent application Ser. No. 15/710,654, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference.

Abstract: Apparatuses that operate as both a public address speaker and a wireless access point (AP) for mounting to a ceiling or wall. The compact public address access points described herein may include an AP housing, enclosing a radio (e.g., a 3×3 MIMO radio) and antenna, that is coupled to a speaker assembly including a speaker, a conical acoustic reflector positioned between a front of the speaker and the housing of the AP, and an annular region comprising a concave inner wall facing the conical acoustic reflector. Although the AP is nested atop the front of the speaker, the speaker may produce high-quality sound with accurate voice reproduction without interfering with the operation of the wireless transmission of the AP. Methods of operating and installing these apparatuses are also described.
