Abstract:
A sheet feeding unit and an image forming apparatus having the same. The image forming apparatus includes a body and the sheet feeding unit to supply sheets into the body. The sheet feeding unit includes a sheet feeding cassette coupled to the body, a sheet lifting plate positioned in the sheet feeding cassette to stack sheets thereon, a pick-up device to feed the sheets piece by piece from the sheet feeding plate, and an adjustment unit to vary a sheet feeding force by which the sheets are fed from the sheet lifting plate. Accordingly, the sheets can be smoothly fed into the body without skewing through adjustment of a sheet feeding force of the pick-up device.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit to form an image on a printable medium; a casing to accommodate the image forming unit; a feeding cassette coupled to the casing and arranged so as to move between a feeding position where the feeding cassette is separated from the casing and used to store the printable medium and a waiting position where the feeding cassette is folded up against the casing; a pick-up roller to feed the printable medium from the feeding cassette to the image forming unit when the feeding cassette is in the feeding position; and a pick-up roller cover coupled to the casing so that the pick-up roller cover can rotate between an open position exposing the sub feeding roller and a closed position covering the pick-up roller.
Abstract:
A tension adjuster for a belt of image forming apparatus is provided. The tension adjuster of the belt includes a tension roller which rotates in contact with an inner surface of the belt. A fixed shaft is disposed a predetermined distance away from the tension roller. A pair of swing arms connect the fixed shaft to a shaft of the tension roller. A tension unit rotates the swing arm on a circumference of the fixed shaft in a first direction so that the tension roller produces a tension on the belt. A tension releasing unit applies torque to the swing arm on the circumference of the fixed shaft in a second direction opposite to the first direction. When the belt rotates, torque generated by the tension unit is greater than the torque generated by the tension releasing unit. When the belt is stopped, the belt is released by the torque of the tension releasing unit.
Abstract:
A waste toner transfer apparatus in an electrophotographic printer transfers waste toner removed by a cleaning unit from an image holding body where a toner image is temporarily held to a waste toner storage container. The waste toner transfer apparatus includes a duct connecting the cleaning unit and the storage container, a transfer unit installed in the duct and transferring the waste toner to the storage container, and an agitation member installed in the duct to move therein and guide the waste toner from the cleaning unit to the transfer unit.
Abstract:
A color quantization method based on an HMMD color space and a multimedia searching method using the same in extracting color features for searching multimedia, to enable searching of multimedia data which has been quantized on different levels. A quantization method is optimized to be proper for various quantization levels so as to increase search performance in an HMMD color space. And the interoperability between color features quantized into different quantization levels is provided so as to search multimedia generated from different application programs and in which a quantization rule is defined so as to maintain high search performance. Preferably, the present invention provides a color quantization method for various levels, thereby enabling to achieve high search performance on maintaining interoperability. The present invention provides a multimedia search method enabling to measure the similarity between features quantized into different levels.
Abstract:
A pickup error-sensing apparatus of an image forming apparatus and method therefor. The pickup error-sensing apparatus includes a sensing actuator rotatably disposed on a frame with respect to a paper cassette, displaceable when sheets of paper are loaded in the cassette, a paper sensor unit outputting a paper loading and unloading signals according to the displacement of the sensing actuator, a sensing actuator-operating unit operating the sensing actuator to allow the paper sensor unit to output the paper unloading signal when a pickup roller carries out a pickup movement, and a control unit determining whether the paper unloading signal is output when the pickup roller carries out the pickup movement, and determining occurrence of a pickup error to stop the image forming apparatus when the paper unloading signal is not output. The apparatus and method sense the pickup error generated from inadequate movement of the pick-up roller without installing a separate paper sensor.

Abstract:
An electrophotographic includes a main frame, a photosensitive drum unit having a photosensitive drum and vertically detachably installed on the main frame, a plurality of development units each having a developing roller and detachably installed on the main frame while sliding in a horizontal direction, and a first door openably installed for mounting or dismounting the plurality of development units.
Abstract:
An object-based bit rate control method and a system therefore provides a user with satisfactory quality of image by using significance of the object. The object is separated from the image, and significance is imposed on each object. A quantization parameter is differently varied according to the significance of the object. Especially, a variable width of the quantization parameter is controlled in a boundary region of the object and the other regions.
Abstract:
Provided is a paper feeding device. The paper feeding device includes an image forming unit, a paper feeding unit to provide a transfer force to a first side and a second side opposite to the first side. The paper feeding unit has a roller portion to transfers the paper to the image forming unit and a paper-feeding controlling unit to operate the roller portion so as to interrupt the transfer force applied to the paper when a rear end of the paper passes through the roller portion.
