    Abstract: An electronic device (e.g., a superconducting memory cell) includes a substrate and a layer of superconducting material disposed over the substrate. The layer of superconducting material is patterned to form a plurality of distinct instances of the layer of superconducting material including: a first wire; and a loop that is (i) distinct and separate from the first wire and (ii) capacitively coupled to the first wire while the loop and the first wire are in a superconducting state. The loop is configured to form a persistent current via the capacitive coupling in response to a write current applied to the first wire while the loop and the first wire are in the superconducting state. The persistent current represents a logic state of the electronic device.

    Abstract: Techniques disclosed herein relate to photon sources with high spectral purity and high brightness. In one embodiment, a photon-pair source includes a pump waveguide, a first resonator coupled to the pump waveguide to couple pump photons from the pump waveguide into the first resonator, a second resonator coupled to the first resonator, and an output waveguide coupled to the second resonator. The second resonator is configured to convert the pump photons into photon pairs. The second resonator and the first resonator are configured to cause a coupling-induced resonance splitting in the second resonator or the first resonator. The second resonator and the output waveguide are configured to couple the photon pairs from the second resonator into the output waveguide. In some embodiments, the photo-pair source includes one or more tuners for tuning at least one of the first resonator or the second resonator.

    Abstract: A quantum computing system and methods for performing fusion based quantum computing on encoded qubits. A fusion controller sequentially performs a series of fusion measurements on respective physical qubits of first and second encoded qubits to obtain a respective series of classical measurement results. For respective fusion measurements of the series of fusion measurements, a basis for performing the respective fusion measurement is selected based on classical measurement results of previous fusion measurements. An encoded fusion measurement result is determined based on the classical measurement results, and the encoded fusion measurement result is stored in a memory medium.

    Abstract: A device includes a plurality of superconducting components, each having a first terminal and a second terminal; a plurality of current sources, being electrically-connected to the first terminal of a corresponding superconducting component and configured to selectively provide a first current; and a bias current source electrically-connected to the respective first terminal of each of the plurality of superconducting components. The bias current source is configured to provide a second current adapted to bias the superconducting components such that (1) a combination of the second current and the first current from each current source causes the plurality of superconducting components to transition from the superconducting state to the non-superconducting state, and (2) a combination of the second current and the first current from each current source of only a subset of the plurality of current sources does not cause the plurality of superconducting components to transition to the non-superconducting state.

    Abstract: A device includes photon detectors, first photonic modes (coupled with photons sources) for outputting a first set of four photons, second photonic modes to provide a second set of at least four photons to the photon detectors, third photonic modes (coupled with the photon sources) to provide a third set of at least photons to the photon detectors, first couplers coupling modes in the first set of photonic modes to modes in the second set of photonic modes, and second couplers coupling modes of the third set of photonic C modes to modes of the second set of photonic modes. The first and second couplers are configured to cause the first photonic modes to output, with a first non-zero probability, a pair of photons in a Bell state when a first number of photons is provided to respective inputs of the first photonic modes and the third photonic modes.

    Abstract: Electro-optical devices and methods for constructing electro-optical devices such as a switch or phase shifter. An electrode layer is deposited on a substrate layer, a waveguide structure is deposited on the electrode layer, a first cladding layer is deposited on the waveguide structure, and the first cladding layer is planarized and bonded to a wafer. The substrate layer is removed and the electrode layer is etched to split the electrode layer into a first electrode separated from a second electrode. A second cladding layer is deposited on the etched electrode layer. The first and second electrodes may be composed of a material with a large dielectric constant, or they may be composed of a material with a large electron mobility. The device may exhibit a sandwich waveguide architecture where an electro-optic layer is disposed between two strip waveguides.

    Abstract: An assembly system for assembling an optical die to an optical substrate includes test equipment configured to test optical couplers formed between the optical die and the optical substrate. The assembly system is configured to adjust an alignment of the optical die relative to the optical substrate until the optical couplers meet a performance metric. After the performance metric is met the optical die is permanently attached to the optical substrate.

    Abstract: The various embodiments described herein include methods for testing low temperature components. In some embodiments, a cryogenic testing system includes: (1) a cryostat chamber configured to maintain a sample at temperatures below a threshold temperature, where the sample includes a two-dimensional array of components to be tested, the two-dimensional array comprising a first number (n) of columns and a second number (m) of rows; (2) a probe card including: (a) a set of n column connectors configured to couple to respective columns of the two-dimensional array; and (b) a set of m row connectors configured to couple to respective rows of the two-dimensional array; and (3) a cryogenic connector for communicatively coupling the probe card to a processing unit outside of the cryostat chamber.
