    Abstract: The present application provides an intelligent floor mopping apparatus, including: a body, a driving mechanism, a cleaning mechanism, and a sensing mechanism. The driving mechanism is disposed on the body, and is adapted to drive the body to move. The sensing mechanism is disposed on the body, and is adapted to sense the situation of a floor of an area to be cleaned, so as to adjust the moving direction of the body. The cleaning mechanism is disposed below the body for cleaning the floor and includes two circular mopping blocks and one rectangular mopping block. The two circular mopping blocks are disposed side by side below a front part of the bottom of the body and are rotatable parallel to the floor, and the rectangular mopping block is disposed below a rear part of the bottom of the body.

    Abstract: A robot cleaner and a method for controlling a robot cleaner are provided. The robot cleaner may include a casing, a drive disposed in the casing, a camera disposed in the casing to acquire an image of a user's gesture, and a controller that extracts an image including a user's arm image from the image acquired by the camera to determine an angle and a direction of the arm expressed by the user's gesture from the arm image and determine an intension expressed by the determined arm angle, and controls the drive based on the determined intension. The method may include receiving a voice command through a voice recognition device disposed in the robot cleaner; determining, by a controller, whether the received voice command is a gesture recognition command; acquiring an image of a user's gesture by a camera, when the received voice command is the gesture recognition command; determining, by the controller, an angle and direction of an arm expressed by the user's gesture from the image acquired by the camera; and determining, by the controller, a function intended by the determined arm angle to control a movement device so as to execute the determined function.

    Abstract: This document describes a mobile cleaning robot including a chassis having a forward portion and an aft portion; a blower affixed to the chassis; a bin supported by the chassis and configured to receive airflow from the blower, the chassis enabling evacuation of the bin through a bottom of the robot. The bin includes a top, a bottom, a sidewall, and an internal barrier. The bin includes a first volume and a second volume separated by the internal barrier and a filter unit supported by the internal barrier and removably disposed in an airflow path between the first volume that includes an intake port in the bin and the second volume that includes an exhaust port in the bin.

    Abstract: A method of confining a robot in a work space includes providing a portable barrier signal transmitting device including a primary emitter emitting a confinement beam primarily along an axis defining a directed barrier. A mobile robot including a detector, a drive motor and a control unit controlling the drive motor is caused to avoid the directed barrier upon detection by the detector on the robot. The detector on the robot has an omnidirectional field of view parallel to the plane of movement of the robot. The detector receives confinement light beams substantially in a plane at the height of the field of view while blocking or rejecting confinement light beams substantially above or substantially below the plane at the height of the field of view.
