Abstract: A floor cleaning machine can comprise a chassis, a cleaning mechanism, a control system, and a cleaning operation sensing system connected to the chassis. The chassis can be configured for movement along a cleaning path. The cleaning mechanism can perform a cleaning operation. The liquid system can provide liquid to the cleaning mechanism. The recovery system can recover liquid from the cleaning operation. The control system can control performance of the cleaning operation. The cleaning operation sensing system can detect a condition of the cleaning operation. The cleaning operation sensing system can comprise a water trailing detection system comprising: a frame connected to the chassis aft of the recovery system, an absorbent medium connected to the frame; and a moisture sensor in communication with the control system to alter a signal in response to moisture in the absorbent medium.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a movable object and a method for controlling the same. A method for controlling a movable object may include acquiring virtual data representing distances between each of a plurality of positions within an area and surfaces in the area, in a plurality of directions, respectively, based on a map of the area. An algorithm, such as a machine learning algorithm, may be executed that outputs positions corresponding to the virtual data. Actual distance data between the movable object and a plurality of surfaces in the vicinity of the movable object may be acquired. An actual position of the movable object may then be estimated corresponding to the actual distance data by executing the algorithm using the actual distance data. The movable object may be controlled based on the estimated actual position.

Abstract: Some embodiments include apparatuses providing control over movement of motorized transport units at a shopping facility, comprising: multiple self-propelled motorized transport units; a wireless communication network; and a central computer system, wherein the central computer system comprises: a transceiver; a control circuit; and a memory storing computer instructions that when executed cause the control circuit to: receive an override command, from a worker associated with the shopping facility, to cause a first motorized transport unit of the multiple motorized transport units to implement one or more actions; confirm a valid authorization of the worker to override one or more operating limits of the first motorized transport unit; and override the one or more operating limits and communicate one or more instructions to the first motorized transport unit configured to cause the first motorized transport unit to implement the one or more actions in accordance with the override command.

Abstract: The present application provides an intelligent floor mopping apparatus, including: a body, a driving mechanism, a cleaning mechanism, and a sensing mechanism. Abstract: A robot cleaner and a method for controlling a robot cleaner are provided. The robot cleaner may include a casing, a drive disposed in the casing, a camera disposed in the casing to acquire an image of a user's gesture, and a controller that extracts an image including a user's arm image from the image acquired by the camera to determine an angle and a direction of the arm expressed by the user's gesture from the arm image and determine an intension expressed by the determined arm angle, and controls the drive based on the determined intension. The method may include receiving a voice command through a voice recognition device disposed in the robot cleaner; determining, by a controller, whether the received voice command is a gesture recognition command; acquiring an image of a user's gesture by a camera, when the received voice command is the gesture recognition command; determining, by the controller, an angle and direction of an arm expressed by the user's gesture from the image acquired by the camera; and determining, by the controller, a function intended by the determined arm angle to control a movement device so as to execute the determined function.

Abstract: A robot cleaner having a monitoring function and minimizing power consumption and/or securing communication efficiency and a method of controlling a robot cleaner are provided. The robot cleaner may include at least one sound obtaining device; at least one image obtaining device; and a controller configured to determine whether a sound obtained through the at least one sound obtaining device is abnormal, sense a direction in which an abnormal sound is generated, and obtain images in the direction in which the abnormal sound is generated. The robot cleaner may automatically recognize a surrounding situation, and when necessary, the robot cleaner may rotate and/or move in a corresponding direction and/or position to obtain images or transmit the obtained images to a remote terminal, thereby minimizing power consumption of the robot cleaner with limited power.

Abstract: A method of confining a robot in a work space includes providing a portable barrier signal transmitting device including a primary emitter emitting a confinement beam primarily along an axis defining a directed barrier. A mobile robot including a detector, a drive motor and a control unit controlling the drive motor is caused to avoid the directed barrier upon detection by the detector on the robot. The detector on the robot has an omnidirectional field of view parallel to the plane of movement of the robot. The detector receives confinement light beams substantially in a plane at the height of the field of view while blocking or rejecting confinement light beams substantially above or substantially below the plane at the height of the field of view.
