A user interface (GUI) and generator (UIG) to generate same to assist an operator position a catheter (DC) or other medical devices during a denervation procedure or similar interventions. A virtual marker (MC,MP) is displayed overlaid on an X-ray projection image (IM) or other digital image so as to indicate to the operator where the catheter needs to be positioned next in respect of a previous application position.
Abstract:
A medical sensor includes a first set of optical components configured to obtain a first set of signals for determining a first regional oxygen saturation measurement. The first set of optical components includes a first emitter, a first detector separated from the first emitter by a first distance along a first axis, and a second detector separated from the first emitter by a second distance along the first axis, wherein the second distance is greater than the first distance. The sensor also includes a second set of optical components configured to obtain a second set of signals for determining a second regional oxygen saturation measurement. The second set of optical components includes a second emitter and a third detector separated from the second emitter by a third distance along a second axis, different from the first axis.

This invention provides a method of using a catheter for mapping parasympathetic or sympathetic renal nerve for treatment of disease caused by systemic renal nerve hyperactivity, wherein the catheter comprises a shaft having a proximal end configured to be connected to an energy source, and a distal end (catheter tip) which is in the form of a single helix, double helix or multiple prongs having one or more electrodes.

A method to deliver focused ultrasound energy from a position outside a skin of a patient to a nerve surrounding a blood vessel, includes placing the patient on a table in a substantially flat position, moving a transducer into a position inferior to ribs, superior to an iliac crest, and lateral to a spine of the patient, maintaining the transducer at the position relative to the patient, and delivering focused ultrasound energy through the skin of the patient without traversing bone, wherein the direction of the focused ultrasound is directed from a lower torso to an upper torso of the patient.

A system for treatment includes a focused ultrasound energy source for placement outside a patient, wherein the focused ultrasound energy source is configured to deliver ultrasound energy towards a blood vessel with a surrounding nerve that is a part of an autonomic nervous system inside the patient, and wherein the focused ultrasound energy source is configured to deliver the ultrasound energy from outside the patient to the nerve located inside the patient to treat the nerve.

Described herein are methods, devices, and systems for treating human anemia. The methods, devices, and systems generally include monitoring a patients hemoglobin level and at least one of autonomic balance and inflammatory state to determine the etiology of the anemic state, modulating at least one of a sympathetic or parasympathetic nerve based on the cause of the anemia, monitoring for changes in the patients cardiac activity and state of inflammation, and hemoglobin level. An external neurostimulation system is describes, and well as a chronic implantable system. A method for treating a patient for anemia in conjunction with a renal denervation ablation catheter is also disclosed.

A renal denervation system includes a renal denervation catheter and a flow determining system. The renal denervation catheter includes a plurality of ablation members positioned at a distal end portion thereof. The renal denervation catheter is insertable into a renal artery. The flow determining system includes a processor and first and second flow determining members spaced apart on the renal denervation catheter. The processor is configured to determine a change in blood flow through the renal artery resulting from a renal denervation procedure using the renal denervation catheter in response to input from the first and second flow determining members.

A renal denervation catheter includes a catheter shaft, at least one ablation member, and a sensor, and is operable to perform a renal denervation procedure. The catheter shaft includes a distal end portion insertable into a renal artery. The at least one ablation member is positioned at the distal end portion of the catheter shaft and operable to ablate renal nerves along a wall of the renal artery. The sensor provides information that correlates to blood flow in the renal artery. A change in blood flow rate in the renal artery resulting from the ablation is indicative of the efficacy of the renal denervation procedure.

In a method and apparatus for analyzing medical imaging data of a subject from an imaging modality using a tracer, data from detection of tracer emission events at least one region of a scanned imaging volume are obtained, and the data processed to establish sub-periods or time points within a scan period for the emission events. A rate of change of emission events per unit time for a given region is then calculated, for example by obtaining a number of emission events in each sub-period in the given region, and fitting a line through the values for the sub-periods.
