Abstract:
A woven fabric is made of warp threads and weft threads. The warp threads have a different composition than the weft threads and at least one of the warp threads or weft threads is comprised of a multifilament fibre. The fabric is colored after it is manufactured by preferentially coloring the warp threads with a dyestuff which is preferentially taken up by the warp threads, but substantially repelled by the weft threads, and a different dyestuff which is preferentially taken up by the weft threads and substantially repelled by the warp threads. The resulting fabric can exhibit the shot silk effect.

Abstract:
A process for producing woven fabrics which includes the steps of i) producing a stabilized size-free flat multifilament yarn, ii) forming a warp form the flat multifilament yarn of step i), III) leasing the warp formed in step ii) into the heddles of the shafts and into the reed of a weaving machine, and iv) producing a woven fabric through the insertion of warp threads in the transverse direction to the coarse of the warp at a weft insertion frequency of at least 300 picks/minute. The tension on the stabilized and size-free flat multifilament yarn does not exceed 1.0 cN/dtex. Also described is a woven fabric having warp threads based on stabilized flat multifilament yarns woven without size, whose warp thread density is more than 30 ends/cm and whose weft thread density is at least 30 picks/cm.
Abstract:
A single ply convertible top fabric comprising a sateen woven fabric using a blend of solution dyed polyester and cotton yarn coated with a PVC vinyl.
Abstract:
The present friction spinning apparatus includes a draw frame section with an entrance trumpet including first and second fiber sliver guiding passageways for forming a three component corespun yarn. One of the guiding passageways directs a core roving into the draw frame section while the other sliver guiding passageway directs a core wrapper sliver into the draw frame section so that the core wrapper fibers surround the core fibers. Wrapping fibers are then wound about the core and core wrapper fibers in an elongated throat extending between a pair of rotating suction drums.
Abstract:
A woven sheeting material and method of making same are provided wherein such sheeting material has warps and wefts and each of the warps is made of a blend of a natural material and a synthetic material and each of the wefts is made substantially entirely of the natural material.
Abstract:
A power transmission belt (10,21) of improved manufacture wherein a novel reinforcing fabric (4,14) is provided in the inner portion of the compression section (3,13) of the belt. The fabric is formed of yarns (20) having a low coefficient of thermal contraction and a high bias elongation to break. The yarns are formed of a mixture of natural and synthetic resin fibers and are subjected to heat treatment to effect the improved low coefficient of thermal contraction and high bias elongation to break.
Abstract:
Polyester conjugate crimped yarns prepared by conjugate spinning(1) an A component substantially comprising polybutylene terephthalate and(2) a B component substantially comprising polyethylene terephthalateat a weight ratio of 30:70 to 70:30 in a side-by-side or eccentric sheath-core arrangement, rendered crimpable by false twisting to a degree of crimpability TC.sub.10 of 8% or more when subjected to a boiling water treatment under a load of 10 mg/de. The polyester conjugate crimped yarn can be obtained by subjecting the conjugate yarn to single-heater false twisting under the conditions which satisfy the following relations:TW.gtoreq.24380/.sqroot.De (i)185+50 [.eta.]B.gtoreq.T.gtoreq.150 (ii)whereTW is the number of false twists (T/m);De is the total denier of the yarn after false twisting;T is the temperature in 0.degree. C. of the false twister heater;[.eta.]B is the intrinsic viscosity of the B component.Stretch woven fabrics having a stretch percentage of 15% or more can be obtained by weaving the above-mentioned polyester conjugate crimped yarns.
Abstract:
Oriented woven furniture support materials made in part from elastomer monofilament and in part from yarn have been found to possess a unique combination of properties including high strength, low creep and good flexibility. These furniture support materials can be made by weaving of the elastomer in a first direction and the yarn in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction followed by heat-setting of the woven material.
Abstract:
A percale sheeting fabric of polyester and cellulosic fiber construction which more effectively utilizes the beneficial properties of the cellulosic fiber as compared to conventional polyester and cotton blend sheeting fabric constructions so as to provide a greatly increased moisture absorbency rate for enhanced comfort, and with enhanced cover, bulk and opacity. The fabric is formed of warp and filling yarns of corespun construction having a yarn count of about 34/1 to 37/1 cotton count, with the yarns being interwoven to form a woven fabric construction of at least about 180 threads per square inch. Each of the corespun warp and filling yarns has a core portion formed of multifilament polyester of a total denier of about 45 to 50, and a sheath portion formed of cellulosic fibers helically wrapped about the multifilament core portion to substantially surround and encase the same.
