Abstract: A back plate of a liquid crystal display (LCD) device includes a first region as an appearance of the entire LCD device, in which a plurality of first and second reinforcing ribs crossing each other are disposed, the plurality of first reinforcing ribs are arranged to be spaced apart from each other in a horizontal direction, and an angle α between the first reinforcing rib and a vertical direction ranges from 40° to 50°. The plurality of second reinforcing ribs are arranged to be spaced apart from each other in the horizontal direction, and an angle β between the second reinforcing rib and the vertical direction ranges from 40° to 50°. Each of the first reinforcing ribs at least crosses one of the second reinforcing ribs. A liquid crystal display device including the back plate as described above is also disclosed.

Abstract: Provided is an optical sensor mounting structure which is used in an image display device and in which the gap between a reflection sheet and a tubular cushion for preventing the entry of external light into an optical sensor is eliminated so that the amount of light from a backlight can be measured accurately. A liquid crystal image display device includes an optical sensor that measures light from the back surface of a reflection sheet, a substrate having the optical sensor thereon, and a tubular cushion for preventing the entry of external light into the optical sensor. The front surface of the tubular cushion is bonded to the reflection sheet, and the back surface thereof is bonded to the substrate.

Abstract: In a liquid crystal display device, there is provided a liquid crystal display panel in which a TFT substrate and a counter substrate are bonded together by a sealing material, with a liquid crystal sandwiched between the substrates. Further, a front window with a black border print formed in the periphery is bonded to the liquid crystal display panel by a UV curable resin. The liquid crystal is filled by a drop method. The thickness of the TFT substrate and the counter substrate is reduced to about 0.2 mm by polishing. An inner end of the black border print of the front window is inside an inner end of the sealing material, to prevent the counter substrate of the liquid crystal display panel from being deformed by stress generated in the curing of the UV curable resin, thereby preventing yellow discoloration in the periphery of the display area.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods for making a thin film device and/or for reducing warp in a thin film device, the methods comprising applying at least one metal film to a convex surface of a glass substrate, wherein the glass substrate is substantially dome-shaped. Other methods disclosed include methods of determining the concavity of a glass sheet. The method includes determining the orientation of the concavity and measuring a magnitude of the edge lift of the sheet when the sheet is supported by a flat surface and acted upon by gravity. Thin film devices made according to these methods and display devices comprising such thin film devices are also disclosed herein.

Abstract: The invention provides an organic EL display device that, even if bent, is not prone to plastic deformation and has improved moisture blocking characteristics.An organic EL display device includes: a glass substrate; an organic EL layer formed on an upper side of the glass substrate; and a support substrate glued on a lower side of the glass substrate via a first adhesive. Recessed portions or projecting portions are formed on the glass substrate at a side thereof facing the support substrate. Abstract: The back plate assembly contains a back plate and a reinforcing plate fixed to a back side of the back plate. The reinforcing plate has a hollowed out pattern with a number of connected reinforcing ribs. A backlight module and a display device incorporating the back plate assembly are also disclosed. The reinforcing plate is designed and manufactured separately and then fixed to the back plate. The reinforcing ribs and engraved openings are integrated on the reinforcing plate, achieving superior capability to withstand deformation and flexibility in customization to suit the need and appearance of various backlight modules and display devices.
