Abstract:
This present invention provides a system and method for transforming a main image of a digital image, such as one stored in the Exchangeable Image File (“EXIF”) format, updating the metadata, including the thumbnail image, to correspond to the transformed main image. The transformed main image and updated metadata are stored together in a file using the EXIF format so that the transformed main image may be viewed using a digital camera or viewer software compatible with a properly formatted EXIF file.
Abstract:
The image of a subject is sensed in a photo studio using a digital still camera, and a thumbnail image containing less data than a high-resolution main image representing the image of the subject is generated. Data representing the generated thumbnail image is transmitted to a file apparatus located in another room. The thumbnail-image data requires a shorter transmission time because it contains a smaller amount of data. As a result, the thumbnail image representing the subject is displayed more rapidly.
Abstract:
An information managing system for browsing or transferring images between apparatuses is connected to a network. In this system, an information storage apparatus such as an image pickup apparatus, an information managing apparatus such as an image server, and an information processing apparatus or client computer such as a PC are interconnected by the network. The information storage apparatus uploads only related information such as an index of image data stored therein to the information managing apparatus to publicize the related information on the network. Only when the information processing apparatus for browsing the public information issues a transmission request for original information, the original information is transmitted from the information storage apparatus to the information processing apparatus.
Abstract:
A transmitting and receiving device capable of transmitting and receiving information to and from another communication apparatus and an information processing device are provided. The information processing device produces directories that classifies a plurality of images stored in a recording medium, and if the communication apparatus asks for an offer of any image file according to information of the directories, the information processing device transmits the image file to the communication apparatus through the transmitting and receiving device. Consequently, the user is capable of easily designating the desired image file that meets the use according to the presented information about the directories by remote control with the communication apparatus.

A method of allowing for selective editing of a digital image that has undergone a correction of at least one area of interest is provided. The method includes: providing for the identification and correction of the at least one area of interest in the digital image while maintaining the digital image; providing the correction of the at least one area of interest as correction metadata; providing a low resolution corrected image using a low resolution version of the digital image and the correction metadata; and allowing the correction metadata to be edited to establish modified correction metadata, wherein a revised version of the low resolution corrected image includes the modified correction metadata.

A card reader loads thumbnail image data from a memory card. Plural thumbnail images are arranged in a matrix, and displayed as an index image on an image selection screen. The thumbnail image to be printed is selected on the image selection screen. The card reader loads principal image data corresponding to the selected thumbnail image and its accompanying information from the memory card. An image processor applies various image processing, such as gradation correction, over the principal image data. A principal image is printed on a front surface of a photographic paper and the index image is printed on a rear surface of the same.

There is provided an image capturing apparatus hat enables a user to confirm already captured images on the image capturing apparatus even when the captured images have been transferred out of the image capturing apparatus. The image capturing apparatus has an image capturing section for capturing images, a large memory for storing the images captured by the image capturing section, a small memory whose memory capacity and power consumption are smaller than those of the large memory, an image compressing section for compressing the captured images, a storage processing section for storing the compressed images compressed by the image compressing section to the small memory, a small display section having a less number of pixels than that of the captured images and a display control section for reading the compressed images out of the small memory to display on the small display section.

Methods and system for transferring images between devices is disclosed. For example, differently scaled images by a host device may automatically and/or selectively be transferred to a media player for display. In turn, appropriately scaled images may be transferred automatically and/or selectively to another display device for example a TV, camera or printer. The selectivity may occur either at the host level or at the player level.

An information processing apparatus and method are provided by which the user not only can merely see an album display but also can enjoy the album display satisfactorily as a memory. Image data are stored, and time information and position information are recorded in connection with the image data. Thumbnail icons representative of the image data are displayed in accordance with the time information, and a map image is displayed in concave/concave display. Position icons representative of the time information and the position information are displayed on the map image. The map and the thumbnail icons are moved on the display by at least one of different types of movement including horizontal movement, vertical movement, clockwise or counterclockwise rolling movement, upward or downward pitching movement and leftward or rightward yawing movement so that the user can enjoy various images.
