Abstract:
Provided is an apparatus for surface treatment of a throttle body structure with a first and a second electrode located in a housing electrically connected to a transformer. A rotating fixture base is also provided in the housing. Also provided is a method for surface treatment of a throttle body structure utilizing the above apparatus and a provided throttle body. A throttle body structure is provided and secured to said fixture base. The two electrodes are lowered into an engaged position in the center of the throttle body. Air is pumped towards the electrodes and voltage from the transformer is applied to the electrodes. The fixture base and throttle body are rotated. After treatment, the electrodes are then returned to the home position.
Abstract:
An electro-kinetic air conditioner for removing particulates from the air creates an airflow using no moving parts. The airflow is subjected to UV radiation from a germicidal lamp within the device. The conditioner includes an ion generator that has an electrode assembly including a first array of emitter electrodes, a second array of collector electrodes, and a high voltage generator. The device can also include a third or leading or focus electrode located upstream of the first array of emitter electrodes, and/or a trailing electrode located downstream of the second array of collector electrodes, and/or an interstitial electrode located between collector electrodes, and/or an enhanced emitter electrode with an enhanced length in order to increase emissivity.
Abstract:
A system for analyzing aerosols incorporates a corona discharge ion generator with a positively or negatively charged corona discharge needle formed of platinum or a platinum alloy. A high speed (40-210 meter per second) air flow sweeps the ions away from the corona discharge, and propels the ions into a mixing chamber in a turbulent jet that encounters an aerosol, also provided to the mixing chamber. In one version of the ion generator, the ions are carried into the mixing chamber through an orifice formed in a positively or negatively biased plate. In another alternative, the aerosol droplets are electrostatically generated, and propelled into the mixing chamber as an aerosol jet that confronts the ion jet to enhance a mixing of the charged droplets and the ions. In this version the droplets are advantageously neutralized to leave predominantly singly charged positive and negative particles, to provide a neutralized aerosol particularly well suited for analysis with a mass spectrometer.
Abstract:
A graphite cathode and a graphite anode are placed opposite each other through an insulating plate having a notch. A voltage is applied between both of the electrodes to generate arc discharge at the notch of the insulating plate. A given area of the graphite anode is evaporated from an electrode point of the arc discharge, and simultaneously an arc jet is generated from the notch. Thereby, a carbon nanoparticle comprising soot of carbon nanomaterial containing carbon nanohorn is generated. The soot is deposited on a recovering plate for recovery.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a plasma reactor for reducing noxious gas by using a plasma reaction, a production method for such a plasma reactor, and an emission control apparatus for reducing noxious gas contained in exhaust gas of a vehicle by use of such a plasma reactor.
Abstract:
A reaction chamber (12, 49) is adapted to be coupled to a source of microwave radiation. A pair of opposed field enhancing electrodes (18, 21; 62, 63) concentrate microwave energy so as to form plasma in a localised region between the electrodes. Gas passages are arranged for passing a gaseous medium into and out of the chamber so that the gaseous medium passes through the said localised region of plasma. The electrodes comprise electrically conducting tubes (18, 21; 62, 63) held in electrode holders (17, 19; 53, 54) located in the chamber wall, the electrode tubes being removable and replaceable from outside of the apparatus.
Abstract:
Chemical generator and method for generating a chemical species at a point of use such as the chamber of a reactor in which a workpiece such as a semiconductor wafer is to be processed. The species is generated by creating free radicals, and combining the free radicals to form the chemical species at the point of use.
Abstract:
A device comprising a light source, a sample support and a temperature control compartment. The sample support is positioned to support multiple sample vessels for irradiation by the light source. The temperature control compartment maintains the temperature of the sample vessels within a desired range. The light source, sample support and temperature control compartment are all contained within an opaque housing.
Abstract:
This invention is to a process and system for controlling solids distribution in a gas-solids reactor. Solids distribution is controlled by controlling electrical charges between solid particles flowing between conductive surfaces within a gas-solids reactor. The electrical charges are controlled by conventional means such as by grounding the opposing conductive surfaces, or by applying a voltage to one of the opposing conductive surfaces.
