Abstract:
An adhesive sheet article comprising a porous backing coated on one side with a polymeric migration barrier and said migration barrier is further coated with a pressure-sensitive adhesive to provide novel adhesive tape articles. A method of manufacturing such articles is also disclosed.
Abstract:
Polymer powders which are redispersible in an aqueous medium are prepared by drying an aqueous polymer dispersion whose polymer particles dispersed in the aqueous medium have a positive or a negative electric surface charge, with the addition of a water-soluble polyelectrolyte as a drying assistant, the electric charge of the polyion being opposite to the electric surface charge of the disperse polymer particles.
Abstract:
Hot melt adhesive masses are provided with a tackless surface by a process which comprises the steps of: a) extruding the hot melt adhesive through an appropriate die orifice; b) spraying the surface of the extruded adhesive with a molten film forming low molecular weight polymer or formulated polymeric material, the material being selected so that it will not appreciably detract from the properties of the adhesive composition when remelted therewith; c) heating the surface of the coated adhesive at a temperature and for a period of time sufficient to re-melt the film forming polymer so as to form a continuous coating thereof yet insufficient to appreciably melt the adhesive; and d) cooling the thus coated adhesive mass to a temperature suitable for handling.
Abstract:
A novel thermally reworkable anisotropic conductive adhesive composition for attaching a semiconductor device to a substrate is provided. The composition comprises (a) a thermally reworkable crosslinked resin produced by reacting at least one dienophile having a functionality greater than one and at least one 2,5-dialkyl substituted furan-containing polymer, and (b) at least one electrically conductive material present in an effective amount to provide a conducting medium in only one direction.
Abstract:
A process is provided for preparing an acrylic copolymer latex having improved mechanical and shear stability comprising emulsion polymerizing at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer having up to 23 carbons in the presence of, by weight based on the total monomer content, a) from about 0.05% to about 5.0% of a protective colloid with a molecular weight of less than 75,000, and b) from about 0.01% to about 1.5% of at least one water soluble free radical polymerization initiator. This latex provides coating manufacturers the flexibility of either eliminating surfactants altogether from coating or to use small amounts thereof.
Abstract:
An adhesive tape is provided which comprises a woven cloth, a polymer embedded into the cloth so as to cause the warp and weft fibers of the cloth to bond together at their overlapping points but not to completely encase the fibers, and a pressure sensitive adhesive coated onto at least a portion of the polymer, wherein the adhesive tape is hand tearable in the down-web and in the cross-web direction. A method of manufacturing such a tape is also provided.
Abstract:
A non-environmentally hazardous, non-volatile adhesive promoter composition useful in promoting the cure and/or enhancing adhesion of adhesives and for use in combination with adhesive bond polymerization. The promoter composition is a combination of a fluid carrier that remains substantially present during the curing of an adhesive composition and an active component capable of promoting the cure and/or enhancing adhesion of the adhesive and being miscible in the fluid carrier.
Abstract:
Stable and water-resistant aqueous foam composition containing (1) a long chain cationic organic compound and (2) a long-chain anionic organic compound in a weight ratio of from 0.05:1 to 15:1. The stable foam composition of the invention may be mixed with various water-soluble or water-dispersible organic, polymeric, or inorganic substances and used in applications where lightweight, heat, sound or other insulative, barrier properties or homogeneous material distribution are needed. Such applications include cementitious or gypsum containing substances, adhesives, binders, paper treating materials, coatings, ceramics, landfills, geofills, and firefighting and fireproofing materials.
Abstract:
Described is a colored film formed of a transparent film and at least one colored adhesive layer arranged on one side of the transparent film. The adhesive layer has been colored by a colorant composed of a pigment and a dispersant. The dispersant comprises a (meth)acrylate ester polymer formed, as essential monomer components, of an aromatic vinyl monomer, a primary to tertiary amino-containing (meth)acrylate ester monomer and a (meth)acrylate ester monomer containing an ammonium group quaternized with an aromatic compound.
