Abstract:
In a discharge lamp having a discharge vessel and external electrodes, at least one electrode similar to a conductor track is an integral part of a laminate (5) which is adhesively bonded to the outer side of the discharge vessel and includes a carrier film made of electric insulating material.
Abstract:
A discharge light having a light emitting tube (1) encapsulates a discharging medium, an inner electrode (2) disposed in the light emitting tube, and an outer electrode unit (4) fixed to the outside of the light emitting tube. The outer electrode unit has at least a plurality of outer electrodes (4b) arranged intermittently in the axial direction of the tube and having a part abutting on the outer wall face of the light emitting tube, and a part (4c) engaging with the light emitting tube while coupling the outer electrodes thereof integrally, wherein the engaging part clamps the light emitting tube at a part thereof thus holding the outer electrode unit around the light emitting tube. The light emitting tube is lighted by applying a voltage between the inner electrode and the outer electrode. The outer electrode can be fixed readily to the light emitting tube and the plurality of outer electrodes can be held against the light emitting tube with high accuracy.
Abstract:
A method of fabricating an electrode of an external electrode fluorescent lamp (EEFL) includes plating nickel on both ends of a glass tube through an electroless nickel plating process and forming electrodes by dipping the glass tube into an electrode material including zinc, and tin or lead.
Abstract:
A light-emitting discharge tube in which an outer wall surface of a glass tube is made less susceptible to flaws by forming a protective film on the outer wall surface of the glass tube, a method of fabricating the light-emitting discharge tube, and a protective film forming apparatus are provided. The light-emitting discharge tube defines light-emitting discharge regions by a plurality of external electrodes. The outer wall surface of the light-emitting discharge tube (the glass tube) is coated with the protective film (a metal film, a conductive metal oxide film, an insulating metal oxide film, or an organic film).
Abstract:
A flat fluorescent lamp includes a lamp body and first external electrodes. The lamp body has discharge spaces formed therein. The first external electrodes are disposed at a first end portion of an outer surface of the lamp body and a second end portion that is opposite to the first end portion to define a first region where the discharge spaces overlap the first external electrodes and a second region where the discharge spaces do not overlap the first external electrodes. Each of the discharge spaces has a first width at the first region and a second width that is smaller than the first width at the second region. Therefore, an overlapping region between the first external electrodes and the discharge space increases to lower the discharge voltage.
Abstract:
Provided is an image display method for an image display device including a plurality of electron emission elements and a fluorescent substance that emits light by electron irradiation from the electron emission elements, the method including: storing a fluorescent substance correction value for correcting variation in the light emitted from the fluorescent substance; continually updating an emission current correction value for correcting variation in an emission current; and driving the image display device based on the fluorescent substance correction value and the updated emission current correction value. According to the method, it is possible to correct both the variation in emission currents and the variation in light emitted from fluorescent substances, and to suppress the unevenness of light emitted in the image display device.
Abstract:
A method of driving a plasma display panel that is adaptive for improving brightness and efficiency. In the method, a sustaining pulse for sustaining a discharge of a cell selected in a sustaining interval is alternately applied to each of a sustaining electrode pair. A pulse signal synchronized with the sustaining pulse is applied to a data electrode to cause a discharge for inducing a long-path discharge between the sustaining electrode pair between any one of the sustaining electrode pair and the data electrode.
Abstract:
A flash lamp device having a flash lamp that includes an arc tube in which a pair of electrodes are disposed in opposition and a high voltage supply proximal conductor which extends parallel to the electrodes, on the exterior of the arc tube of the flash lamp. The high voltage supply proximal conductor is supported in an interior space of a sealed tubular body having a dielectric member with a greater permittivity than that of air.
Abstract:
A display device for displaying images having a plurality of rib walls, a plurality of cells formed by the rib walls, a plurality of column electrodes extending in the column direction, and a plurality of row electrodes extending in the row direction and traverse the column electrodes. The display device further includes at least two of the column electrodes that are electrically shorted.
Abstract:
A plasma display device disclosed herein is capable of enhancing the contrast of external light, facilitating application of phosphor paste on the bottom of each space surrounded by lattice-like barrier ribs, and reducing a variation in the amount of the phosphor paste applied as much as possible. The lattice-like barrier ribs include lateral ribs extending along a first direction while being nearly in parallel to each other, and vertical ribs extending along a second direction different from the first direction while being nearly in parallel to each other. Each of the lateral ribs is composed of two or more rows of rib elements. Notches for communicating spaces surrounded by the vertical ribs and the lateral ribs to each other in the first direction and/or the second direction are formed at least in portions of the vertical ribs and/or the lateral ribs.
