Abstract: Apparatus, system and method to provide switchable coils in a computing device, comprising: a plurality of electrically conductive coils to transfer electromagnetic energy; a sensor coupled to a processor, to select a coil from among the plurality of electrically conductive coils; a switch to energize the selected coil; and a switch controller coupled to the switch and to the processor. In some embodiments, the plurality of coils may comprise an inductive charging interface. Some embodiments may further include a communication interface between the processor to the plurality of electrically conductive coils, the plurality of coils comprising an interface for near-field communications (NFC). The antenna coils may be arranged to provide improved NFC coverage when the computing device is in a respective predetermined physical configuration. Sensors may be used to detect the configuration and switch NFC communications to use a preferred antenna coil for the detected configuration.

Abstract: In an example, a mobile computing device such as a tablet, laptop, or convertible is operable to couple to a docking station via high-frequency wireless such as WiGig at 60 GHz. Because high-frequency signals are highly directional, the mobile computing device is provided with a high-frequency antenna operable as a rotor. In one embodiment, the antenna is freely hinged to a gravitational pivot, and pivots toward the docking station responsive to gravitational torque. In another embodiment, an actuator drives the antenna to a correct angle responsive to a rotational sensor. In this case, an angle sweep may be performed around a midpoint to identify a best angle for high-frequency communication.

The plurality of components include a first cellular communication antenna disposed on a first side of the top bezel, and a second cellular communication antenna disposed on a second side of the top bezel opposite the first side. The plurality of components also include a first WiFi antenna disposed adjacent to the second cellular communication antenna, and a second WiFi antenna disposed adjacent to the second cellular communication antenna on an opposite side from the first WiFi antenna.

Abstract: Techniques for wireless transmitting power are described. An example power transmitting unit includes a magnetic resonance-type transmit coil array comprising a plurality of coil elements, wherein each coil element is tuned to a same resonant frequency. The power transmitting unit also includes a power generating circuitry to deliver current to the transmit coil array to wirelessly power a device within an active wireless charging area of at least one of the plurality of coil elements. Each coil element exhibits a plurality of zero point distances and the spacing between neighboring coil elements corresponds with the plurality of zero point distances.

Abstract: Apparatuses, methods and storage medium associated with identifying a physical distance using audio channels are disclosed herein. In embodiments, an apparatus may include a microphone associated with a first audio channel of a plurality of audio channels and a radio receiver associated with a second different audio channel of the plurality of audio channels. The apparatus may include one or more processors, devices, and/or circuitry to identify an amount of time between times of receipt of first and second representations of a signal received via the microphone over the first audio channel and via the radio receiver over the second audio channel, respectively. The amount of time may be usable to identify a physical distance between references associated with a remote source of the first and second representations and the apparatus, respectively. Abstract: Techniques for modifying the electrical current distribution of transmit coil of a wireless power transmitting unit are described. An example power transmitting unit includes a transmit coil configured to generate a magnetic field to wirelessly power a device within an active wireless charging area. The power transmitting unit can also include a power source to transmit an alternating electrical current to an input terminal of the transmit coil and a plurality of reactive elements placed in series with the transmit coil. In some examples, the plurality of reactive elements attach to the transmit coil at least a quarter of a turn from the input terminal. The power transmitting unit can also include a controller to modify a reactance value of the reactive elements to adjust a current distribution of the transmit coil in response to detecting a characteristic of a power receiving unit.
