Abstract: Embodiments in accordance with the present invention encompass compositions encompassing a latent organo-ruthenium catalyst, an organo-ruthenium compound and a pyridine compound along with one or more monomers which undergo ring open metathesis polymerization (ROMP) when said composition is heated to a temperature from 80° C. to 150° C. or higher to form a substantially transparent film. Alternatively the compositions of this invention also undergo polymerization when subjected to suitable radiation. The monomers employed therein have a range of refractive index from 1.4 to 1.6 and thus these compositions can be tailored to form transparent films of varied refractive indices. The compositions of this invention further comprises inorganic nanoparticles which form transparent films and further increases the refractive indices of the compositions. Accordingly, compositions of this invention are useful in various opto-electronic applications, including as coatings, encapsulants, fillers, leveling agents, among others.

Abstract: A transparent polyimide mixture is disclosed. The transparent polyimide mixture includes a transparent polyimide, an additive, and a solvent. A molecular chain of the transparent polyimide includes an active hydrogen atom. The additive includes a carbodiimide group. An equivalent ratio of the active hydrogen atom and the carbodiimide group is in a range of 1:0.8 to 1:1.2. A method for preparing the transparent polyimide mixture, a transparent polyimide film, and a method for preparing a transparent polyimide film are also disclosed.

Abstract: A method of preparing an aesculin sturgeon skin gelatin with antioxidant activity and Enterococcus faecalis detection ability includes: 1) mixing a sturgeon skin gelatin and distilled water in a ratio of 1:15-1:25 (w/v) at 50-70° C. and filtering to obtain a sturgeon skin gelatin solution; 2) adding aesculin and a glycerin solution to the sturgeon skin gelatin solution, stirring the resulted sturgeon skin gelatin solution at 30-50° C. for 30 minutes, and filtering; and 3) removing air bubbles from the sturgeon skin gelatin solution of step 2) under reduced pressure, placing the sturgeon skin gelatin solution on an acrylic glass, and drying the sturgeon skin gelatin solution at in a vented oven 25° C. and 45-55% relative humidity for 24 hours to obtain the aesculin sturgeon skin gelatin film.

Abstract: An addition curable type silicone resin composition includes (a) an organopolysiloxane having an alkenyl group bonded to a silicon atom, (b) an organopolysiloxane represented by the formula, (R1R22SiO1/2)m(R1R2SiO2/2)n(R22SiO2/2)p(R1SiO3/2)q(R2(OR3)SiO2/2)r(SiO4/2)s, (c) an organohydrogen polysiloxane represented by R4aHbSiO(4-a-b)/2), (d) a platinum group metal catalyst, and (e) a polyorganometallosiloxane containing an Si—O—Ce bond, and an Si—O—Ti bond, and contents of Ce and Ti of which are each 50 to 5,000 ppm, which cures by heating. According to this constitution, it is provided an addition curable type silicone resin composition which can provide a cured product excellent in transparency, and less change in hardness and weight loss under high temperature conditions.

Abstract: The invention relates to impact-modified, thermoplastic compositions, where the measured refractive index difference between the impact modifier particles and the matrix composition is greater than 0.008 units, yet a blend of the impact modifier particles in the matrix produces a transparent composition. The impact modifier particles are preferably impact modifier composite particles, being intimately blended with one or more polymeric process aids or dispersing aids. The polymeric process aids are physically or chemically attached to the impact modifier particles, forming composite particles that allow for facile powder isolation. The impact modifier composite particles provide improved physical, chemical, and/or rheological properties to the thermoplastic composition. Preferably the impact modifier particles of the invention are core-shell impact modifiers.

Abstract: A clear, semi-crystalline, strain induced crystallized article comprising at least one polyester which comprises: (a) a dicarboxylic acid component comprising: i) 95 to 99.99 mole % of terephthalic acid residues; and ii) 0.01 to 5 mole % of isophthalic acid; and (b) a glycol component comprising: i) 4.9 to 10.2 mole % of 2,2,4,4-tetramethyl-1,3-cyclobutanediol residues; and ii) 89.8 to 95.1 mole % of 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol residues, wherein the polyester is solid stated and has an inherent viscosity from 0.76 to 1.1 dL/g and a glass transition temperature (Tg) of 90 to 110° C. The article has strain induced crystallinity from 15% to 35% when stretched at a draw ratio of 3 to 4 times at a temperature 10° C. above the Tg or from 23.2% to 35% when stretched at a draw ratio of 3.5 to 4.5 times at a temperature 20° C. above the Tg.

Abstract: A resin composite that excels in weatherability and transparency and experiences less bleed out and whitening at a high temperature, and a method for producing the resin composite, and the like are provided. Specifically, the resin composite includes: a methacrylic resin (A) that contains a structural unit derived from methyl methacrylate and that has a melt viscosity η(A) of 1,500 to 3,500 Pa·s; and a block copolymer (B) in which a methacrylic acid ester polymer block (b2) is coupled to an acrylic acid ester polymer block (b1). The block copolymer (B) has a melt viscosity η(B) of 75 to 1,500 Pa·s. A ratio η(A)/η(B) is from 1 to 20. 0.1 to 3 parts by mass of a hydroxy phenyl triazine-based UV absorber is contained in 100 parts by mass of the total of the methacrylic resin (A) and the block copolymer (B).
