Abstract:
A slant plate compressor with a variable displacement mechanism including a driving mechanism having a drive shaft is disclosed. The compressor includes a compressor housing having a cylinder block. A plurality of peripherally located cylinders are formed through the cylinder block. A piston is slidably fitted in each of the cylinders and is reciprocated by the driving mechanism. An inner end of the drive shaft is rotatably supported in the cylinder block by bearing which is fixedly disposed within a central bore formed through the cylinder block. Both rearward and radial forces acting on the drive shaft are effectively received and compensated for by the bearing without providing an axial position adjusting element, such as, a washer having the various thicknesses for adjusting an axial position of the drive shaft.

Abstract:
A passive destroker mechanism operated by centrifugal force is added to a variable stroke axial piston wobble plate refrigerant compressor. The destroker operates at a predetermined compressor speed to communicate the discharge side of the compressor with its sealed crankcase to thereby provide a controlled discharge gas bleed thereto to destroke the compressor to a desired displacement. Then after the speed is reduced below such trigger speed, the destroker mechanism operates to return the compressor to its normal stroke control condition.
Abstract:
Test benches are useful, for example, for testing the operation of new or repaired pumps and motors. Current test benches involve directly driving the test pump with an electric motor, the horsepower of which must at least equal the horsepower rating of the test pump. The subject test bench utilizes an electric motor to drive a variable displacement pressure compensated pump. The discharge fluid from the pump drives a variable displacement hydraulic motor which in turn drives the test pump. The discharge fluid from the test pump is also directed to the hydraulic motor to add additional driving energy thereto in a regenerative manner. Thus, pumps having a higher horsepower rating several times greater than the horsepower rating of the electric motor can be effectively tested at their maximum rated displacement and pressure settings. The electric motor also drives another variable displacement pressure compensated pump, the discharge flow of which is directed to a test motor. The test motor in turn drives the variable displacement motor which thus functions as a pump to direct pressurized fluid to the variable displacement pump, which in turn functions as a motor to add additional power to the variable displacement pump through the electric motor in a regenerative manner. Thus, motors having a higher horsepower rating than the horsepower of the electric motor can also be tested on the same test bench.
Abstract:
A rotation detecting device for a wobble plate type compressor comprises a front thrust race disposed on a flat end surface of a cam rotor and moveable therein. The front thrust race has two nail portions. A magnetic pickup is mounted on the cylindrical housing of the compressor and is positioned thereon opposite a portion of the locus of movement of the nail portions. When a nail portion passes opposite the magnetic pickup, a magnetic flux is produced. The magnetic pickup detects the magnetic flux and thus detects movement of wobble plate. Thus, the connection between the compressor and the driving source can be quickly interrupted in the event of compressor malfunction.
Abstract:
A fluid operated pump displacement control system is provided wherein a self pressure is defined as a first control signal, and characterized in that an arbitrary switchable second control signal different from the first control signal is added to the first control signal, and a displacement is adapted to be switched to a displacement corresponding to a value of the second control signal as added to the first control signal. Further, a fluid operated pump displacement control system is provided comprising a control circuit connected to respective displacement control devices of variable displacement pumps and adapted to be operated by discharge pressure fluid from a discrete control pump. A variable torque control valve has a proportional electromagnetic solenoid provided in a circuit connecting the control circuit with the control pump and is adapted to produce a pressure reduction by a discharge fluid pressure of the variable displacement pumps and a propelling force of the proportional electromagnetic solenoid. A detector detects set output conditions of a prime mover for driving the variable displacement pumps, and current is supplied to the proportional electromagnetic solenoid according to the difference between a set reference rotational speed in each of the set output conditions and an actual rotational speed of the prime mover.

An apparatus for regulating the speed of internal combustion engine of a hydrostatic system. A fuel control means acts to control the quantity of fuel delivered to the engine responsive to the immediate hydraulic flow demanded by operation of the hydrostatic system. The speed of the engine is set to one of a plurality of discrete levels in response to the required flow being within one of a corresponding plurality of preselected ranges.
Abstract:
A rotation sensor for sensing a swash-plate type compressor being in rotational state. An electromagnetic sensor including a permanent magnet and a coil disposed in the neighborhood thereof is fixed on a housing of the compressor such that it may be opposed to a part of a rotational locus described by a specific portion of the external periphery of the swash-plate. The electromagnetic sensor generates a signal pulse everytime the specific portion passes nearby. When the swash-plate is made of a non-magnetic material some magnetic body is fixed on the external periphery of the swash-plate for constituting a portion-to-be-sensed. This magnetic body may be a ring or lump of ferrous material, a temperature sensitive ferrite, a permanent magnet, etc.
Abstract:
A dynamic compressor control is provided. The dynamic compressor control includes sensors to sense operating parameters of a compressor and a compressor analytic software package. The compressor analytic software package uses the sensed operating parameters of the compressor to generate key performance indicators. The key performance indicators are used to calculate process variables for the compressor. The dynamic compressor control uses the sensed operating parameters and the process variables calculated from the key performance indicators to provide operating alarms and/or shutdowns.
