    Abstract: A vibration transducer adapted to be mounted on and launch bending waves into a member having opposed faces by applying a localized couple to the member. Also disclosed is a loudspeaker having such a transducer mounted on a member which acts as an acoustic resonator by sustaining resonant mode bending wave vibrations. The transducer comprises a motor coil assembly having a coil rigidly fixed to a tubular member, and a magnet assembly comprising opposed pole pieces, the periphery of one pole piece being disposed within and adjacent to the motor coil assembly, and the periphery of the other pole piece being disposed outside of and adjacent to the outside of the motor coil assembly. The magnet assembly has a central attachment portion adapted to be rigidly attached to the member to be vibrated. The motor coil assembly surrounds and is spaced from the central attachment portion of the magnet assembly, and has a surrounding attachment portion that is adapted to be rigidly fixed to one face of the member in spaced relation to the central attachment portion of the magnet assembly.

    Abstract: A ceiling-mounted loudspeaker includes upper and lower sound-directing structures having walls acting as a radial horn to provide a wide included angle of coverage for sound energy generated by a loudspeaker driver assembly having a piston for directing generated sound energy upwardly into the horn. The lower structure further has a continuously convex bottom configured and dimensioned to define a diffraction path for at least some of the sound energy exiting the output mouth of the radial horn, so that the convex bottom acts as a downwardly-directed diffractor. The radial horn and convex bottom together produce an oblate spheroid of sound energy affording a substantially uniform amplitude of sound within a large finite horizontal plane at the level of a listener.

    Abstract: A combination loudspeaker and sign holder having a housing which has enlarged flat parallel end walls joined by narrow end walls. Within the housing is an acoustic horn having a vertical axis and horn end walls diverging downwardly and outwardly. The horn end walls are secured to the housing side walls, and the horn side walls are constituted by the housing side walls. Atop the horn is a speaker which radiates downwardly through the horn and the open bottom of the housing. Preferably the horn end and top walls are formed by a single bent strip of corrugated plastic and the housing is formed of the same material. Tabs in the housing allow it to be suspended from a store ceiling, and a sleeve bearing advertising material may be fitted over the housing. Alternatively, advertising material may be attached to the sides of the housing.

    Abstract: A mounting system for mounting a loudspeaker to a substrate includes a mounting assembly having an elongated screw, a support member received on and movable along the screw, and a mounting arm rotatably connected to the support member and having a resting position and a working position. A guide housing receives the mounting assembly with the screw extending longitudinally therethrough and includes a wall structure with an open front side and a cap at a top portion of the wall structure. In the resting position, the support member is positioned along the screw at least partially received within the cap and the mounting arm is substantially contained within the wall structure. In the working position, the support member is positioned along the screw to be outside of the cap and the mounting arm is spring-biased away from the screw and extends outwardly through the front side of the wall structure.

    Abstract: An audio system for an elevator includes two or more speaker cabinets arranged inside a suspended ceiling fixed to a ceiling board of a car of the elevator, an input device to which sound content radiated to an inside of the car from each of the two or more speaker cabinets are input, and a sound field control device configured to conduct phase control and reverberation time control for the sound content and thereby cause a sound wave based on the sound content to be radiated from the speaker cabinet to the inside of the car. Each of the speaker cabinets includes a casing arranged inside the suspended ceiling, and a speaker unit arranged inside the casing and having a radiation surface that radiates the sound wave.
