Abstract:
A V-form internal combustion engine includes two rows of cylinders with overhead camshafts driven by an intermediate shaft arranged between the two rows of cylinders parallel to the latter and itself rotated by the crankshaft of the engine through a generally reducing transmission device. The two transmission devices include two drive gears keyed on the intermediate shaft at positions selected so that the corresponding driven gears borne by the camshafts are situated between two cams relating to two successive cylinders of the corresponding row of cylinders, whereby reduction in the length of the camshafts and in the engine cylinder heads is effected.
Abstract:
A RECIPROCABLY MOUNTED TAPPET ADAPTED TO BE INTERMITTENTLY ACTUATED BY A ROTATABLE CAM HAS A NON-FLAT CAMCONTACTING SURFACE CONTOURED AS TO ACHIEVE BOTH DESIRED TAPPET LIFT VELOCITY AND A FULL CAM WIDTH CONTACT THEREACROSS.
Abstract:
A structurally encapsulated assembly is disclosed which provides override for a speed control unit so that throttle advance by the vehicle operator, once set speed is reached, has no effect on the setting provided for the engine by the speed control unit. The encapsulated assembly is attached, at its one end to a cable connecting means extending to the speed control unit, at its other end to the pedal operated linkage and, therefore, is in series between them.
