Abstract:
An attachment assembly on a cylindrical protuberance of an article comprising a flexible cap configured for fitting an outer shape of the cylindrical protuberance, the flexible cap comprising an central recess part, a RFID tag fixedly mounted in the central recess part, the RFID tag comprising identification data relative to the article, and a magnet having two opposite flat faces, the magnet generating a magnetic field perpendicular to the flat faces being fixedly mounted by one of the two flat faces on the RFID tag and configured to be affixed by the opposite one of the two flat faces onto the cylindrical protuberance.
Abstract:
A system for detecting double-feed flat item conveyed in a mail processing machine, including a detection for directing a beam of radiant energy toward the moving flat items, scanning them with the beam and receiving at least a portion of the beam of radiation reflected from them. The detector includes a triangulation sensor for providing an output proportional to the position at which the reflected portion of the beam is received, and means for determining from the output, the distance (d) between the radiation source and the point of reflection of the beam on the moving flat items, and providing a signal (S) representative of said distance; and a controller configured to receive the signal (S) and generate an output signal (V) indicative of a flat item profile and a double-feed condition when it detects a significant break point or slope change of the signal from a first direction to a second direction.
Abstract:
A conveyor system for identifying an object (16) on which an identification tag (26) is affixed, comprising a conveyor frame (12) for supporting between its two opposite sides (12A, 12B) a plurality of transverse conveyor rollers (14) each having a roller shaft (14A) and an RFID interrogator exciting a radiant antenna for reading information from the identification tag, the radiant antenna being a first magnetic loop (22) formed by the conveyor frame and two adjacent roller shafts and excited by an excitation circuit (18) connected to, but distinct from, said RFID interrogator.
Abstract:
A system for packaging items in a custom sized box comprises a blank forming apparatus for forming a custom sized blank and a box folding apparatus for folding a custom sized box from the custom sized blank. The box folding apparatus comprises a rectangular throat frame having an adjustable rectangular throat opening and a suction device with suction nozzles for sucking the bottom panel of the blank. A displacement device is provided for lowering the suction nozzles from a top position in which top surfaces of the suction nozzles lie in a plane supporting the blank towards a bottom position, thereby causing folding of the side and end panels of the blank with respect to the bottom panel as the blank is drawn through the throat opening.
Abstract:
A postal code map and related data constructed of polygons representing multiple-digit postal codes and defined by attribution information and/or other spatial features thereby providing more granular and precise entities to optimize activities such as trade area analysis and visualization. The polygons are created and illustrated by generating Voronoi tessellation based on the location of high precision address points and/or interpolated address points, multiple-digit postal codes of each and, for further refinement, attribution information and/or other spatial features such as streets, roads and highways; water borders and boundaries; rail lines; and park, city, county and other municipal, commercial and residential boundaries or barriers to further enclose, restrict and/or define the resulting polygon limits of the visual map.
Abstract:
Controlling deposition and retrieval of shipments via an electronic locker unit communicatively coupled to a managing distribution centre, and having lockable compartments, comprises entering an identification code of the shipment and retrieving specific information including a weight P0 associated with the shipment; opening a compartment of the electronic locker unit; depositing the shipment inside the compartment; weighing the shipment with a weighing module located inside the compartment and comparing the measured weight P with a reference weight;—and locking the compartment and logging the compartment as filled and successfully locked upon close match and validation of weight comparison, said reference weight is an authorized weight interval between a minimal weight Pmin and a maximal weight Pmax determined by cumulating at least the two following: a carrier weight tolerance T1 corresponding to the weight P0 provided by the carrier, and a locker weight tolerance T2 of the scales of the weighing modules.
Abstract:
A mail processing method for franking mail items, which franking machine is connected to a first server that is itself connected to a second server in communication with a sorting machine, the franking method including scanning the destination addresses borne on the mail items as the mail items are inserted, storing the digital images of the addresses scanned in this way, in association with respective unique identification numbers, and periodically transferring the digital images as indexed in this way to a first server. The first or second server extracts determined data from the digital images, which data, associated with the unique identification numbers, is suitable for enabling the sorting machine to be controlled automatically on receiving the franked mail items.
Abstract:
An image acquisition system for processing and tracking mail pieces in a mailing system (2) of the type comprising at least one mail piece processing machine (4, 6, 8) comprising at least one accumulation device (14, 16) for producing mail pieces and generating electronic processing and tracking details for these mail pieces, at least one imaging device (10, 12) for acquiring images of the mail pieces, and a computer (24) coupled to the at least one imaging device and the at least one mail piece processing machine, the at least one imaging device acquiring the images of mail pieces for simultaneously providing both these processing and tracking details and a filling level of the at least one accumulation device.
Abstract:
Methods and systems using a single centralized database to manage postal accounting data are provided. The central database may interface with remote postal meters by way of one or more transient data collectors, which cache data from associated meters and transmit the data to the central database. The data collectors also validate postage accounts to the associated meters. The use of local transient data collectors allows for a single centralized database to be used without requiring data replication among databases local to each computer that manages postal meters.
