Abstract: A microcontroller coupled to sensors integrated into a physical toy for monitoring free play activity of a human subject wherein patterns in play activity sensed by the microcontroller are graphically visualized for identification of behavioral milestones, developmental progress and/or behavioral disorders. Specifically, accelerometers detect movement of toys which determine: (1) if the toy is being played with; and (2) the intensity in which the toy is moved. Pressure sensors detect the level and location in which a child may hold a toy. Synchronized with an audiovisual record of the play therapy session and a computer-generated avatar representation of the physical object, this data is integrated to find peak levels of behavior giving clinicians more efficient analytical tools.

Abstract: An article of footwear includes a motorized tensioning system, sensors, and a gesture control system. Based on information received from one or more sensors the gesture control system may detect a prompting gesture and enters an armed mode for receiving further instructions. In the armed mode the system may detect a variety of different control gestures that correspond to different tensioning commands.

Abstract: A touch sensor detector system and method incorporating an interpolated sensor array is disclosed. The system and method utilize a touch sensor array (TSA) configured to detect proximity/contact/pressure (PCP) via a variable impedance array (VIA) electrically coupling interlinked impedance columns (IIC) coupled to an array column driver (ACD), and interlinked impedance rows (IIR) coupled to an array row sensor (ARS). The ACD is configured to select the IIC based on a column switching register (CSR) and electrically drive the IIC using a column driving source (CDS). The VIA conveys current from the driven IIC to the IIC sensed by the ARS. The ARS selects the IIR within the TSA and electrically senses the IIR state based on a row switching register (RSR). Interpolation of ARS sensed current/voltage allows accurate detection of TSA PCP and/or spatial location.

Abstract: A force sensor includes a first structure, four strain generation parts, and a second structure. The first structure is formed in such a way that a third axis penetrates therethrough. The four strain generation parts are provided along first and second axes on a reference plane formed by the first and second axes. The second structure is connected to the first structure with the strain generation parts interposed therebetween. The strain generation parts each includes a first beam part extending along the first axis or the second axis, and a second beam part extending in a direction orthogonal to the first beam part and connected to the first beam part at an intermediate part. The strain generation parts are formed in such a way that they are line-symmetric with respect to both the first axis and the second axis when projected in a direction of the third axis.
