Abstract: A method includes receiving radar parameters from a unit under test (UUT). The method also includes generating a simulated radar return for the UUT using at least one graphics processing unit (GPU), where the simulated radar return includes digital signals. The method further includes controlling a timing of output of the simulated radar return to the UUT using at least one field programmable gate array (FPGA) carrier. The method also includes converting the digital signals into analog signals using multiple digital-to-analog converters (DACs). In addition, the method includes transmitting the analog signals to the UUT.

Abstract: A technology is described for determining compliance with security technical implementation guide (STIG) standards. An example of the technology can include identifying a STIG standard that may be applicable to a system component included in a computer system. The STIG standard can be obtained from a security technical implementation guide which specifies security standards for securing computer systems against unauthorized access. A configuration compliance package can be generated to evaluate a configuration setting of the system component for compliance to the STIG standard, and the configuration compliance package can be output to enable a determination of compliance of the configuration setting with the STIG standard.

Abstract: A switchable wire includes filaments, each of which includes a heat-activated material layer that may be indirectly heated to change its state between different states having different electrical conductivity. In an example embodiment the indirect heating may be electrically resistance heating by passing electrical current through an electrically-resistive core of the filament. The heat passing through an electrically-insulative coating around the core, and into a heat-activated material layer around the electrically-insulative coating. The heat-activated material may be a chalcogenide material that is shiftable between a crystalline electrically-conducting state and an amorphous electrically-insulating state. The state of the material may be controlled by controlling the heating profile through controlling heating in the core. Many such filaments may be twisted together to form a switchable wire. Such wires may be used in any of a variety of devices where switchable electrical conductivity is desired.

Abstract: A gear drive, such as for an actuator, is a right-angle drive where toothed outer ridge of a face gear is coupled to teeth of a motor output shaft, and a set of planetary gears are engaged with a central sun gear of the face gear. The sun gear and planetary gears are aligned with the motor output shaft. For instance the motor output shaft may be substantially in the same plane with the sun gear and the planetary gears. From another standpoint the axis of the motor output shaft may intersect the sun gear, as well as intersecting a volume that the planetary gears sweep through as the planetary gears engage the sun gear.

Abstract: An effector having an extendible range and a method for extending the range of an effector includes using an axially translatable center body that is movable from a stowed position, in which the center body is stowed in an outer body of the effector, to a deployed position in which the center body extends out of the outer body to extend the axial length of the effector. The effector includes a ramjet assembly and the subsystems of the effector are contained in the center body. The movement of the center body exposes radially positioned ramjet fuel in the outer body, such that the air entering the ramjet inlet may be heated by combusting the air with the fuel for additional fuel and propulsion of the effector.

Abstract: A hybrid computer/human method for generating, validating and using a ground truth map (GTM) provides for enforcement of data capture and transmission compliance of real and near real time video. Computer-implemented processes are used to identify and classify as allowed or disallowed objects in a local scene based on attributes of a video session. A human interface is available to validate either the object identification or classification. The GTM is then used, preferably in conjunction with motion sense, to enforce data capture and transmission compliance of real and near real time video within the local scene.

Abstract: A stored energy power source uses a wound-rotor induction machine (WRIM) to receive energy from a prime mover via a rotating shaft, provide magnetization reactive energy from a self-excited AC capacitor bank, store the energy in N energy storage elements (ESEs) via tertiary windings, and discharge the ESEs to deliver energy via a secondary winding to a load producing output. Each discharging ESE contributes to a total flux at the secondary winding to sum the individual ESEs voltages. These voltages can be stepped up or down by a transformation ratio between the secondary winding and each of the tertiary windings. A flywheel may be coupled to the shaft to store and delivery kinetic energy. Load factor power control can be used to stabilize the output voltage. The source may be configured to allow for the bi-directional flow of energy between the ESEs, the flywheel and the load. The WRIM provides a safe, reliable and efficient system to provide high-level AC and DC output voltages.

Abstract: A radio frequency (“RF”) waveguide device fabricated by additive manufacturing is provided that includes a RF channel comprising a wall and a RF component comprising an unsupported span extending from the wall of the RF channel. The unsupported span can include at least one unsupported surface extending from the wall at an oblique angle relative to the wall. The RF component formed in this manner with additive manufacturing does not negatively impact the RF performance of the RF waveguide.
