Abstract:
An apparatus and/or appliance to provide hydrotherapy coupled with thermotherapy, massaging, and/or application of topical medication or holistic natural remedies for one's extremities.
Abstract:
A spa is provided with a water temperature modification system for heating the water contained in the spa tub. The spa includes a control system that operates with the water temperature modification system to achieve a spa water temperature at a time preset by a user. The control system preferably uses a clock, a temperature measuring device, and a database to preheat the spa water to the set temperature in an efficient manner just prior to the time set by the user.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for providing controlled heating, cooling and motion, in a device such as an active robotic automobile seat, are disclosed. A shape memory alloy (SMA) element, which changes shape upon application of a temperature change to the SMA element, is coupled to a thermoelectric device. Heat flows through the TED upon application of an electrical current through the TED. The apparatus is operable in one of a plurality of modes. In a first mode, a current is applied through the TED to cause a temperature change in the SMA element to change the shape of the SMA element. In a second mode, a current is applied to the TED to cause heat flow in a space adjacent to the apparatus. By controlling application of current to the TED, controlled motion, heating and cooling are achieved in the seat.
Abstract:
A spa is provide with a heat pump for both heating and cooling the water contained in the spa tub. The heat pump uses the existing water pump of the hydrotherapy system to circulate the water through the water heat exchanger of the heat pump. Condensation produced by the heat pump is pumped into the spa tub. Components of the heat pump and water pump are acoustically isolated for noise reduction. Electronic noise reduction may be implemented. Co-generated heat is used to heat the air to produce warm therapeutic bubbles and to feed an ozonator. In addition, an auxiliary electrical resistance heater is arranged in combination with the heat pump for rapid water heating.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a bath apparatus for bathing a body part. The bath apparatus includes a chamber for containing fluid, and a lid mounted to the bath chamber. A showerhead is mounted to an underside of the lid and is oriented towards the bath chamber. A fluid pump draws fluid from the bath chamber and pumps the fluid through the showerhead for providing a pressurized fluid massage effect upon the body part. The showerhead may be viewable from atop the lid for visual identification of a product feature and for a visual fluid flow effect in operation.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a warm air booth, as well as to a method for operating the same. In order to achieve particularly good treatment results, a cold medium, e.g. ice granules, snow or the like, is introduced during the warm, or hot air treatment, respectively, once or several times at time intervals into the booth (S) on the ceiling side thereof, and distributed in the treatment space through a rotor arranged on the ceiling side.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a hypertension descending device capable of curing a hypertension disease by stimulating a patient's Acupuncture point Renying (or referred to as “carotid sinus”) by repeated cold pressure vibration. The hypertension descending device is designed to allow common users to use it easily, and provides a good hypertension descent effect by stimulating the patient's carotid sinus(Acupuncture point Renying) portion while maintaining a uniform cooling temperature of the contact tip, which is in contact with the patient's carotid sinus(Acupuncture point Renying) portion.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for alleviating excessive pressure development on a body area includes a cushion having bottom and top surfaces which are spaced apart. The top surface has a plurality of channels formed therethrough. A compressible inner layer is disposed between the top and bottom surfaces, and a plurality of elongate, inflexible members are supported by the inner layer and are disposed at least partially within the channels. The members have first ends that extend through the channels to project beyond the top surface. Pressure applied to the first ends causes the members to be displaced axially along the channels toward the bottom surface without deformation. Pressure produced by body contact creates point pressures on the body area, and displacement of the members maintains the plurality of point pressures on the body area, alleviating excessive pressure. The apparatus includes a enclosure cover and the members have large, tapered ends. The apparatus may also include a heating or cooling system and may also be incorporated into a vehicle seat.
