Abstract: A system for facilitating the effective administration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by providing feedback regarding release velocity, which is the velocity of the chest while resiliently expanding during the upstroke of a CPR compression cycle. The feedback is provided, indicating whether the CPR provider has substantially released the chest, through a control systems which analyzes sensor input corresponding to chest displacement to determine chest compression depth and release velocity, compares the determined release velocity to a desired release velocity threshold. The desired release velocity is determined based on the depth of compression. The desired release velocity may be determined based on assumed or target compression depth, selected by a CPR provider and input into the control system, or the desired release velocity may be determined adaptively, based on the chest compression depth achieved during compressions and/or the rate of compressions, as determined by the control system.

Abstract: An active orthotic device, e.g. a hand orthosis, is attached to one or more limbs of a human subject and comprises a respective set of actuators (21) for moving a respective limb (1A) among the one or more limbs. A method for controlling the orthotic device comprises obtaining one or more bioelectric signals, [S(t)], from one or more bioelectric sensors (10) attached to or implanted in the human subject; processing the one or more bioelectric signals, [5(t)j, for prediction of an intended application force, FA(t), of the respective limb (1A) onto an object; obtaining a force signal, PA(t), from a force sensing device (22) associated with the respective set of actuators (21) and/or the respective limb (1A); and generating, as a function of a momentary difference, e(t), between the intended application force, FA(t), and the force signal, PA(t), a respective set of control signals, it(t), for the respective set of actuators (21).

Abstract: The wave therapy method includes providing an occupant surface for accepting an occupant thereon and a control unit for holding a specific pressure, based on the weight of the occupant of the surface, for a preferred first preselected duration and continuously adjusting the pressure applied. Continuously adjusting the pressure comprises may include increasing the pressure by a preselected amount and holding this new pressure for a second preselected duration, decreasing the pressure by the preselected amount to return the surface to the original set low pressure, repeating the cycle one or more times.
