Abstract: Provided is a method for manufacturing a concrete pump cleaning foam. The method comprises: providing a mixture of a polymer containing an olefin block copolymer (OBC) having a DSC melting point of 100° C. or higher and a natural or synthetic rubber, a liquid softening agent, and one or more additives selected from the group consisting of a crosslinking agent, a foaming agent, a metal oxide, stearic acid, an antioxidant, zinc stearate, titanium dioxide, a crosslinking coagent, and a pigment; placing the mixture in a mold and pressurizing the mixture at elevated temperature to form a polymer foam; and after the foaming, polishing the surface of the polymer foam to separate closed cells into a surface.

Abstract: A physically crosslinked, closed cell continuous multilayer foam structure comprising at least one polypropylene/polyethylene coextruded foam layer is obtained. The multilayer foam structure is obtained by coextruding a multilayer structure comprising at least one foam composition layer, irradiating the coextruded structure with ionizing radiation, and continuously foaming the irradiated structure.

Abstract: This document presents algae-derived antimicrobial fiber substrates, and a method of making the same. The fiber may be a synthetic fiber, but can also be formed as a cellulosic (e.g., cotton). In various implementations, an algae-derived antimicrobial fiber substrate can be made to have identical properties and characteristics of nylon-6 of nylon 6-6 polymer or the like, and yet contain antimicrobial, anti-viral, and/or flame retardant algal derived substances. Any of various species of red algae, brown algae, blue-green algae, and brown seaweed (marine microalgae and/or macroalgae) are known to contain a high level of sulfated polysaccharides with inherent antimicrobial, antiviral, and flame-retardant properties, and can be used as described herein. Additionally disclosed are algae-derived flexible foams, whether open-cell or closed-cell, with inherent antimicrobial, antiviral, and flame resistant properties. Further, a process of manufacturing is presented wherein the process may include one or more of the steps of: harvesting algae-biomass; sufficiently drying the algae biomass; blending the dried algae biomass with a carrier resin and various foaming ingredients; adding an algal-derived antimicrobial compound selected from various natural sulfated polysaccharides present in brown algae, red algae, and/or certain seaweeds (marine microalgae); and adding a sufficient quantity of dried algae biomass to the formulation to adequately create a fire resistant flexible foam material.

Abstract: Provided is a phenol resin foam that has low initial thermal conductivity and that retains low thermal conductivity for a long period of time. The present phenol resin foam may contain a cyclopentane and a high-boiling hydrocarbon with a boiling point of from 120° C. to 550° C. and may have a density of from 10 kg/m3 to 150 kg/m3. The content of the cyclopentane in the phenol resin foam per 22.4×10−3 m3 space volume in the phenol resin foam is from 0.25 mol to 0.85 mol.

Abstract: A formamide-free foam prepared by using sodium bicarbonate as a foaming agent and electron-beam irradiation for crosslinking is revealed. After copolymer and sodium bicarbonate being mixed evenly, the mixture is heated and compounded to form an intermediate. Then the intermediate is pressed and injected to form a sheet. Next the intermediate is irradiated by an electron-beam to form crosslinks therein. At last the intermediate is heated and foamed to get a formamide-free foam. Compared with foam produced by using azodicarbonamide as the foaming agent available now, formamide-free foam not only causes no harm to human health but also gives no negative effect to the environment during recycling. Thus the formamide-free foam is really environmentally friendly.

Abstract: The present specification relates to thermally expandable formulations comprising (a) at least one peroxidically crosslinkable binary copolymer comprising at least one monomer unit selected from vinyl acetate, (meth)acrylic acids and derivatives thereof, the binary copolymer having a melt flow index of not more than 3 g/10 min, as determined in accordance with DIN EN ISO 1133 and with a test load of 2.16 kg and a test temperature of 190° C., (b) at least one peroxide, (c) at least one chemical blowing agent, and (d) at least one polymer based on one or more diene monomers, and (e) at least one terpolymer based on at least one first monomer selected from singly or multiply unsaturated hydrocarbons, and on at least one second monomer selected from (meth)acrylic acids and derivatives thereof. The thermally expandable formulations exhibit a high level of persistence during the heating of the material as required for curing/expansion.

Abstract: The invention discloses a thermoplastic elastomer composite, a component of electronic cigarette and a method of preparing the component of electronic cigarette. The thermoplastic elastomer composite comprises 65-85 weight % of a main body material, 10-25 weight % of a microspheres foaming agent and 5-10 weight % of an agent. The component of electronic cigarette made of the thermoplastic elastomer composite, has high elasticity and a wide hardness adjusting range, can be adjusted according to users' requirements, and has good taste and feel. The component can be provided with decorative patterns that are similar to tobacco leaves in production, and can simulate appearance of a real cigar and visual effects of real tobacco of cigarettes. The component has high elasticity, and it is non-toxic and non-pollution. The method can be carried out in a simple manner, and can improve the production efficiency.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for making a polymer or copolymer aerogel product by forming an aerogel polymer or copolymer solution in the presence of a polymer or copolymer catalyst and solvent therefor. The aerogel polymer or copolymer solution is drained onto a spinning disk or cup. The solvent is removed under aerogel forming conditions to produce the aerogel fiber web or yarn product.
