Abstract: An elastomer alloy includes a base polymer including hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber (HNBR) and at least one secondary polymer, which is at least one of paraffin wax, low-density polyethylene (LDPE), linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE), high-density polyethylene (HDPE), and a plastomer. The base polymer and the at least one secondary polymer are blended into a polymer matrix. The elastomer alloy also includes a plurality of smart fillers dispersed within the polymer matrix, at least one chemical foaming agent, and a curing activator.

Abstract: Modified lignin products, processes for making them, and their use to produce rigid polyurethane or polyisocyanurate foams are disclosed. The processes comprise heating a lignin source with a nitrogen source and a starved concentration of a C1-C5 aldehyde to give a reaction mixture comprising a Mannich condensation product, neutralizing the reaction mixture, and isolating the modified lignin product. The process is performed at a mass ratio of lignin source to nitrogen source within the range of 1:1 to 1:5 and at a molar ratio of nitrogen source to C1-C5 aldehyde within the range of 3.5:1 to 1:1. Polyol blends and performance additives that contain the modified lignin products are described. Rigid foams that process well and incorporate up to 60 wt. %, based on the amount of polyol component, of the modified lignin contribute to excellent flame retardancy and low-temperature R-value performance.

A variety of foams and foam components and compositions for forming the foams are provided. In some aspects, the foams and components including the foams can have exceptionally high energy return while also having improved durability and softness and an improved abrasion resistance. In particular, midsoles including the foams are provided for use in an article of footwear. Methods of making the compositions and foams are provided, as well as methods of making an article of footwear including one of the foam components. In some aspects, the foams and foam components can be made by injection molding or injection molding followed by compression molding.

Abstract: Provided is a method for preparing a crosslinked polyvinyl chloride structure foamed material by using a physical foaming agent, comprising: melting and mixing a polyvinyl chloride resin, a modified resin, an isocyanate, an anhydride, a nucleating agent and a heat stabilizer to obtain a blank; immersing the blank into a foaming gas for foaming to obtain a foamed body; and subjecting the foamed body to crosslinking curing to obtain a crosslinked polyvinyl chloride structure foamed material. According to the present invention, the crosslinked polyvinyl chloride structure foamed material is prepared by means of a brand-new process route, and the composition and proportion of the PVC resin and other raw materials can be adjusted in a wide range; and carbon dioxide or nitrogen is used for foaming. Further provided is a crosslinked polyvinyl chloride structure foamed material.

Abstract: A polyurethane foam is disclosed having unique load bearing characteristics rendering it suitable for a variety of applications. The foam exhibits high surface-softness and smoothness properties, making it well-suited for use in articles such as pillows and mattress toppers. However, upon continued application of pressure, the resilience of the foam increases sharply, translating into a remarkable support characteristics that make the foam suitable for use in the seat portions of chairs and sofas, as well as in the base portion of mattresses. The foams therefore address the limitations of conventional, high-resilience and visco-elastic polyurethane foams. A process of making the foam and its use in various articles is also disclosed.

Abstract: A method for producing a heat-shrinkable product is provided. First, a polymer composition containing a polymer, a crosslinking agent and a micro-encapsulated foaming agent uniformly dispensed therein is melt mixed. The foaming agent has a peak activation temperature which is higher than a temperature of the melt mixing. Next, the polymer composition is injection molded into a molded product. This carried out at the peak activation temperature to activate the foaming agent. Then, the molded product is crosslinked within the mold.
