Abstract:
A method of making a multilayer protective film. The method comprises: (a) forming a PU layer comprising an at least partially crosslinked polyurethane, the at least partially crosslinked polyurethane comprising at least one of a polyester-based polyurethane or a polycarbonate-based polyurethane; (b) forming a TPU layer comprising a polycaprolactone-based thermoplastic polyurethane; (c) forming a PSA layer comprising a pressure sensitive adhesive; (d) bonding one major surface of the PU layer to one major surface of the TPU layer; and (e) bonding the PSA layer to an opposite major surface of the TPU layer; wherein the TPU layer is sandwiched between the PU layer and the PSA layer. The multilayer film may be used to protect painted surfaces of vehicle body parts.
Abstract:
Composition for preparing a crosslinked pressure-sensitive adhesive, comprising a pressure-sensitive adhesive comprising a polymer component based on one or more monomers having at least one ethylenically unsaturated bond and for which the glass transition temperatures Tg of the corresponding homopolymers are at least 0° C., some of the monomers having at least one ethylenically unsaturated bond also having at least one carboxyl group, acrylic esters and/or methacrylic esters which are each selected such that the glass transition temperatures Tg of the corresponding homopolymers are not more than −20° C., at least one resin component having a softening point of at least 100° C., and at least one difunctional or polyfunctional crosslinker.
Abstract:
A multi-layer, biodegradable film is disclosed. The multi-layer, biodegradable film contains a biodegradable core layer and a biodegradable pressure sensitive adhesive layer. The film may further contain a biodegradable, printable layer and a release liner.
Abstract:
There is described a label comprising a self supporting sheet of a biopolymer, preferably cellulose (e.g. regenerated cellulose, cellulose acetate and/or PLA) said sheet being substantially transparent to visible light when uncoated characterized in that the sheet comprises: (a) a first coating on at least one surface thereof to aid printability thereon; (b) a second coating comprising an adhesive dispersible in an aqueous medium; and (c) optionally a third coating to modify water permeability through the sheet. The labels are to be applied to articles such as glass containers. Preferred labels are wet glue cellulose labels for example where the first coating also comprises a copolymer of vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate to aid water permeability and hence rapid drying of the label on an article.
Abstract:
The base material for a pressure-sensitive adhesive tape or sheet of the present invention is a different-colored laminated base material having a layered structure in which a plurality of film layers having different colors are laminated adjacently, and is used as a base material in a pressure-sensitive adhesive tape or sheet having a base material and a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer disposed on at least one surface of the base material. The base material for a pressure-sensitive adhesive tape or sheet is capable of providing the pressure-sensitive adhesive tape or sheet with a light-reflective property and/or a light-shielding property without requiring the formation of an ink layer and with an excellent tear resistance.
Abstract:

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a non-flammable cushioning and sealing sheet and, more particularly to, a sheet having a sequential layered structure of an adhesive layer, a polyurethane layer, and a surface coating layer, the polyurethane layer containing melamine polyphosphate and diphenyl cresyl phosphate as a flame retardant. The present invention also relates to a method for preparing a non-flammable cushioning and sealing sheet that comprises: preparing a polyurethane layer containing melamine polyphosphate and diphenyl cresyl phosphate as a flame retardant; forming a adhesive layer on the one side of the polyurethane layer; and forming a surface coating layer on the other side of the polyurethane layer where the adhesive layer is not formed.
Abstract:
A thermosensitive adhesive composition including a thermosensitive plastic resin, a dispersing agent, a solid plasticizing agent and a eutectic agent represented by the following chemical structure (1): wherein X1 and X2 independently represent any one of a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom and an alkyl group, p and q independently represent an integer of from 1 to 5.
Abstract:
A decorative dry color laminate includes a dry color layer, a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer on one side of the dry color layer, and a carrier in releasable contact with the dry color layer on a side opposite from the pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA). In use, the adhesive layer adheres the dry color laminate to the surface under application of pressure, and the carrier is peeled away to expose the dry color layer. Methods for providing a substantially permanent color effect on an architectural surface comprise delivering such an article to the architectural surface.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a multilayer film having: (A) an adhesive layer comprising at least about 40 weight percent of an ethylene/alkyl acrylate copolymer and at least about 20 weight percent of a low density polyethylene, and at most about 7 weight percent filler; (C) a barrier layer comprising at least about 90 weight percent high density polyethylene; and (B) a core layer comprising at least about 20 weight percent linear low density polyethylene, at least about 20 weight percent low density polyethylene, at least about 10 weight percent high density polyethylene and at most about 5 weight percent filler. Such a film is useful to protect surfaces and preferably adheres when needed for protection and is removable after protection is no longer desired.
